I've never been a true fan of the cartoon version of Jetfire/Skyfire.

As far as the valkeryie design goes, without doubt,

Toynami's Masterpieces are the best ever!! especially with the MP armor

can't wait till MP Voltron later this year!!

meh, I like the name "Jetfire" better. I don't know why, but "Skyfire" sounds lame to me. Like it'd be a name for a female autobot or something.

Or a crap-tastic Swedish metal band...

wait, there's a masterpiece of Jetfire?

:wave :wave He meant the Valkyrie VF-1S MP made by Toynami.

No offend to Toyanim, but Yamato 1/48 is the true MP. I'm sure the majority of fans will have no problem accepting this statement.

So yeah, the MP Jetfire mold is aready available, all it need now is Takara and Yamato sitting on a table discussing the deal.

Without Armor:

With Armor:

So how much will those be and how limited are they going to be stateside? Thanks! :thumb

Actually it's the Macross VF-1 mold, and Robotech also borrows it. Robotech is not Macross; it's three different anime series spliced together then creatively edited to make it look like one anime series. Robotech also using it is why Hasbro couldn't use the VF-1 likeness in the cartoons. The TF cartoons also aired in Japan, where Takara did not have the license to use the VF-1 design at all even in toy form (which is why they never got Jetfire), so they had to take that into consideration too.

The US version of Jetfire didn't come w/ missles, but I've seen "rare" Jetfire missles floating around eBay, etc. What version are the from? Are they Robotech?

The only thing I can think of is the Japanese Macross version of the VF-1's gun fired projectiles while the US Jetfire didn't.

The VF-1 is the base designation of the Macross Valkyrie. The VF-1S is what Jetfire is based on, which has a different head than the VF-1A and so forth.

The missiles come from the Bandai re-issues and the original Takatoku toys.

Robotech is as Three Storms said above. And helped kick start anime in America. Harmony Gold owns the rights to the Valkyrie's likeness here. So expect a Jetfire re-issue... never. HG won't even let the Macross Plus toys cross the pond. But they can be had in import stores.
