G1 Universe vs. New Universe

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm sure I'll see things slightly differenty when I finally see the show.  For me, in general the toys and shows have been seperate interests, though related.  Kind of the way the Marvel comic was compared to the G1 TV show.

If only I could while at work...  ;)

The ideas influencing the designs were the same, it's just that Mainframe and Hasbro went in two different directions (although I recently found out that Draxhall Jump was responsible for some of the BM Season 2 show characters). I get the sense that Hasbro's version of "technorganic" was a lot more "techno" than Mainframe's was, though.

Shame.  Funny thing with that, there really ought to be a unified theme and thought process before ANY production gets underway.  Too bad they couldn't come to a consensus.

Tankor's alright...  still kind of weak having claws instead of hands...

Yeah, exactly.  Brawn's also got a flat head too.  But he at least has, uh, wings.

it was a clusterf*ck, from everything I've heard. Actually it was similar to what happened with G1 Galvatron -- both the toy designers and the cartoon guys used the concept art as a reference, but they ended up (unsurprisingly) in different places. It is weird though -- BM Primal's head sculpt is completely show-accurate mold-wise, but the rest of him is almost totally unrecognizable. You can see similar things with other characters like Tankor and Thrust. Rattrap ended up being more show-accurate because they didn't release him until 2001 (along with the whole "Battle for the Spark" a.k.a. "Sorry We Screwed Up The First Time" toys).

We already had the spin off, with pri-mal and the new Megatron.  Honestly it was my favorite series (Beast Wars).

If they do another series, I think they need to stick with Prime VS Megatron and their bridge crew kinda skeme, or else come up with an entirely new crew.

Did I just miss something?

Anyway, the way you've been hailing BM or past year or two, I'm glad it's finally going to be making its way to my TV.  You were right about BW, so I'm sure it'll kick butt too.

But I have to honest, those first couple episodes of BW really had me wondering...
