They seemed to be featured in alot of episodes together and had good chemistry as a team.

 

Plus when Windcharger got shot in "Fire on the mountain", Brawn exclaimed, "Nobody does that to my buddy", then kicked Starscreams ass.

They were the only two minibots who weren't n00bs or lame, they had no choice but to hang out together.

 

BTW Fire on the Mountain is one of my favorite G1 episodes in terms of character interaction, despite gratuitous use of the word "geeky"

Still.... I dunno. I only ever noticed him hanging out with Cliffjumper. The episode when someone whacks CJ really well and he flies across the room actually bouncing off of Brawn (who doesn't even twitch at the impact) who then asks 'You okay?'

the fact is brawn and cliffjumper were cool probably had something to do with it.

Cliffjumper was a spaz. His "stupid ideas" count is pretty high.
