Cyb Armorhide into IronHide!

Recommended Posts

First, we have the Alt mode. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the windows. They're entirely too dark, but I've learned why and how to fix it, so next time they'll turn out much lighter.

Next, we have Robot mode. I feel I really did a good job at using the original colors to create a new version of the classic character. I even implemented the yellow without copying the yellow stripe on the original van. You can see that up close here:

Again, the blue for the headlights there is really dark, but in person, it looks like they were tinted that way on purpose.

Up close and personal, the head took me awhile to do. First, I had to double coat it with primer, then apply the new chrome silver for the face and eyes, then the clear blue for the eyes which took two coats, and finally two coats of the Guard Red I used. All of this was done while the head's ball joint was clipped and held in my painting stand, so I had to then primer and paint the ball joint as well. Heads are a pain, the tiny ones are worse.

More pics soon. Sorry for the poor pic quality, I'm working with a 20 dollar web cam. Can't get gold from coal, know what I mean?

Next we have some cool poses. Here, you'll notice that the only change I made to the gun was the hook, which is now black. I didn't feel a need to repaint the gun, it's got a good feel on it's own, but the white hook looked a little odd, and I think black fits better.

If we go out, we go out in a BLAZE of Decepticon parts!

It's my first repaint, so it's not going to be the best, but what do you guys think?

Next on my project list is Cyb. Hardtop into G2 Beachcomber, nix the gun and a little modding, then Cyb. HotShot in Wildrider, and finally a Cyb. Backstop in improved colors.

Nicely done, and btw...the $20.00 Digital Camera did an impressive job considering it's intended quality. Can't knock it too bad.

The head looks spot-on! Good stuff Dude!  :thumb

Thanks, guys! I'm really proud of this piece!  :sun

nice... i was going to do taht myself, until i remembered that i have NO kitbashing skillz

Looks nice, that mold suits him better than I would have expected! :thumb

I concur, much better than E-Towline's does.

E-Towline looks like it should work -but for whatever reason - i just doesnt.  I think the legs and hips are too spindly.

This is a nice direction to take the mold - rather than the obvious "Orange-Huffer".  And with the name "armourhide" Ironhide was the first thing i thought of too.

Nice Job on it!

Sometimes You have to See the figure with the Cape(Enamel) ON to see if it Fits - In this case It not only Works; It Looks better!  (Tho I am Biased toward 'Updated' G1'ers)

Good work- Thanks for Sharing!
