bta 01 sux

Recommended Posts

Hi all, Been reading these forums a while via news sites and decided to join. I want to tell you about a transformer toy alot of you will know about.

It is bta 01 alert. I really expected better from takara. This thing is nerly impossible to get correct as a car, the paint finish is awful, and worst of all.... the body doesnt go in to the nob plate. 2 pin things... it just pops out.

I got this as a set, for £69.00 with bta 02. 02 is fine so thats ok. But money was wasted on that pos alert. A friend of mine says the subarus dont fit together well at all, even the alts versions. Even so, this is takara made so quality was expected. And quality I didnt get.

My other gripe is the little figures. So shoddly made, they are no better than a knock off would be. Why are they not jointed instead of having loose removable limbs? these things just fall apart.

My friend got the same 2, but his bta 02 was shoddly made, but his bta 01 wasent as badly put together as mine...

I'll not buy any more bta's unless its somthing like black convoy.

Anyway thats all I have to say for now... wondering what you peoples experience is with these 2 toys? :)

BTA-03 is fine, (as far as I know) the other two are from old molds which wear out faster with metal than they do with plastic, Riccochet the new alt imprezza looks just fine with no fit problems that are plagueing BTA-01

alert is a nice figure. I have the same problems with the upper body popping out of those two peg things. Paint was crap, especially where the door closes. I was hoping Hasbro would release him instead of Ricochet, but that's another Alt to get if Hasbro does release him.

My Sunstreaker was fine except for a paint chip on the front passenger fender. My figurine is missing her umbrella arm. Darn quality check!

Still debating whether I should get BTA-03.

I probably shouldn't say this, and it still sucks when people pay a lot of money and get crap, but, as an Alternator collector, I can't help but be mildly amused by this.

You're right you shouldn't have said it, and so... :inhpoo

:tflaugh

I also have BTA alert and he really isn't the best of the BT I have (actually, he's the worst). Takara seemed to have a serious slip in the QC department, because my blue Prowl also had some serious problems (paint damage and the like, although the mirrors are absolute solid). Add to this the problem of mold degradation and you can get some serious deficient TF's.

With alert I had the same problems with the upper body-lower body connection, but this was simply solved. Near the hinge at his back there's a little bit too much plastic making it impossible for the upper body part to go far enough down to get a strong connection. If you carefully cut this away with a sharp knife he should be okay.

The paint is indeed a little troublesome. Besides the obvious problem with paint chipping (something all BT can suffer from), alert has the problem that the black is only painted on the outside parts. In alt mode there will always be white visible from the edges. Very sloppy, but if they had painted these edges black as well, then chipping would probably be a bigger problem. But the car modes from all Subaru's are indeed problematic to get right. With a lot of effert I finally managed to get an alt Silverstreak to line-up perfectly last weekend, but I would never do that with a BT: bye-bye paint job.

As for the little figure...I don't think it's possible to give this poseable limbs. It's just too small for that IMO.

Hi could you give me details of which part you cut to fix the body prob? maybe a picture? that be a huge help!

I posted an End Cap thread about wanting alert a while back. Lemme know if anyone wants to sell / trade for him.

Here you go.

Not cutting, just using a sharp knife to trim the part slightly down, so that it protruded less than it did. Only a very little bit was necessary.

Hope it helps.

Had the rxact same problems, did the same exact thing just as soon as I got it from BBTS. Cutting off the excess fixed that problem, but the doors have never fit correctly in alt mode.

I have all the BTAs and only BTA-3 Broadblast is actually of good quality, and that is b/c it is a new mold like everyone else has said as opposed to an old, overused mold like the first two. I am glad that I got them, but I am pissed that I spent so much for poor QC and a crappy little anime figure. I do recommend them but only if you can get them cheaply.
