I've never done it intentionally. what I have done, though, is sometimes I'd get a toy that was molded bad, and the joints were loose, or the gun wouldn't stay in the hand. and like clockwork, I'd get a dupe of the offending toy for birthday or christmas. so I'd swap the bad part for a good part, and my mom would return the toy. I always thought, and still do, that the toy was on the shelf when I got, so what difference does it make if it goes back out?

sorry never done it..... Doesn't sound honest....

Inadvertantl is one thing..... but intentionally keeping a part and returning it as defective.... Raises some questions.

Not to mention it also raises prices. TRU is hurting as it is people with 3 years in row of loses in the millions!

I know TRU is not the best place around, but man I would certainly miss them if they closed down.

At very least, you've just bought your selves some bad karma. :tflaugh

no, stealing is what raises prices. returning defective merchandise is just that, returning defective merchandise, the store will still get credit for it. if it happens to be light a small part or 2 that makes NO difference. i've worked in retail long enough to know how stores deal with defective merchandise.

i'm not talking about intentionally returning an otherwise good toy just to get an extra part, that would be dishonest, but if it's defective it just doesn't matter!!! NOBODY will miss it, they have no reason to.

so the garbage can or recycling bin will be a few grams lighter, who will miss it?

chances are, after returning the thing, nobody would ever be aware at any time that a small part isn't there. it's defective so it will go into the damaged goods bin, then marked down, boxed up and shipped back out with the rest of the defective merchandise, NOT back on the shelf.

thats all i'm talking about, not parts that get stolen or fall out of open packages while in the store or anything like that.

:wave

i saw at TRU a tracks that was opened and it had its stickers applied and the missles were broken outa the plastic and put there with tape
