i wonder if there will be a Yoda or Palpatine in this series..........?

I heard a rumor that there will be a Palpatine that turns into a Star Destroyer. Don't quote me on it though.

Quick Thoughts-

 

* Kanobi really doesnt have that bad of a potbelly. And his face sculpt is not *bad* - but the orange beard and mohawk crap have to go.

 

* Kanobi has LOTS of kibble, spindly arms, lego hands, and mine has a weak knee....

 

*sigh... Kanobi is all right -but due to his massive kibble - he poses well cause it props him no matter what you do.

 

*Vader lacks in the balance area.  His Wing/Cape is interesting but ultimately doesnt "work".

 

*He looks kind of tall and lanky - which Vader shouldnt...

 

*shield is cool.

 

Overall - i got what i expected - not as bad as everyone has feared - certainly not GREAT.

 

I am dismayed that i maybe sucked into buying an Xwing for the Nostalgia factor (again - OT ships and characters have my hearts PT's meh....)

mehhhhhhhhh I'm still thinking about getting Vader just because it's Vader..... ARGH DARN MY NOSTALGIA

that reason alone makes Vader a winner!

and ultimately why i will prolly get an Xwing

Now that i have owned these guys for an hour here at work:

 

I am embarrassed to say that Obiwan is actually a better Display piece than Vader.

I keep thinking though - that he would look Awsome with Alt-SilverStreak's head. Or maybe Prowl's (minus the horns)

 

Vader Just isnt doing it for me as a display figure

 

HOWEVER- Vader/TieFighter is a better TOY!

 

Once you move Kanobi his kibble and wobbly head become too ghey to function....

I have also come to the another realization -

These figures as toys are a resounding success no matter how much we adult collectors whine.

even as a cross promotion - they are a success.

 

 

They may not be as intricate or elegant as what we have become acustomed to but they do have a charm - and IF YOU BUY THE OT CHARACTERS -they have immediate iconic recognition in either mode (and i know that Obiwan is kinda fudging that OT disclaimer)

 

I mean looking at this - this IS a badass robot and this IS OBIWAN KANOBI - and this IS a Jedi Starfighter

 

not since G1 has Transformers been so readily recognizable and Iconic.

I mean this is why i Hate the non realistic vehicles - even the Alternators

I mean yeah - i know what a Viper is but its no LAMBOURGHINI!!!!

I dig the Scion but its NO VW-BEETLE...

Even though the Tie-Fighter is a "non-Realistic" vehicle -my brain has been telling me that it is real since i was 4 months old.

 

Its more real to me - than the Subaru WRX

I picked up the Obiwan starfighter (only one the store had and as it happens the only one I wanted - due to Jedi starfighter boner).

 

I was impressed with how nice the Starfighter alt-mode was.   Aside from being slightly compressed in the x-axis, I'd go as far to say that it's about 80% of an Alternator level of quality in the alt-mode - very nice reproduction of the Jedi fighter with very little robot stuff visible (pretty much just the knee joint).

 

Robot mode was fine (mine doesn't seem as loose as Hunter's), the only thing I wasn't too wild about was the robot mohawk he appears to have.

 

Also, the little figure should have been about twice as big, the Jedi starfighter is actually a pretty small spaceship.
