Why did Universe & RM Fail

I think some of the failure came from all the molds being rather too recent. If the first molds were older than Beast Machines at first then maybe. but then our 'exclusives' became Armada remolds and even Energon demolds. That was a start on the wrong foot.

totally due to crappy molds and even worse paint jobs. the only ones i bought were razorclaw, primal, ratchet and inferno. nothing else really caught my eye. but imagine how well rm would have done over here. id have bought every piece from that line. that was universe done right.

For Universe, I'd say the lack of show so kids would buy the stuff, and collectors were turned off by half of the color schemes done with the others. It's also simply a repaint line so some people do not see the reason to buy the same mold again.

For Robotmasters, I would say the boring selection of repaints. Most of them were Cyberjets and whatever small G2 molds. The Gigantbomb and Sniper team was repainted already a hundred times. I personally thought that the only mold most people cared about was G1 Starscream, although the BW leaders were decent but lack a lot of detail. Most people also dismissed the RM Convoy, because there were disappointed thinking it would be a smaller MP Convoy.

i was actually quite surprised how much i liked the rm convoy. and ive heard nothing but good about the beast leaders.

The beast leaders were okay, but nothing really special. I think the better selling ones were the RM Seekers, and the original molds. Since that was less than a third of the line,  while the rest were mostly boring repaints of boring molds.

in comparison, the seeker molds werent as good as primes was. imo. they just looked good.

IMO robot masters ran its corse and ended on an ok note

universe failed IMO cuz some of the toys made no sence and were imposible to get hold of out side of US ans Can with out spending $$$

There wasn't anything wrong with Robotmasters.  The toys were very cheap to make and sell.  Sure they weren't original or really cool, but I am sure many young kids liked the play value of all the small figures (especially the animals).  Collectors and adults liked picking up something that reminded them of toys when they were young.  Parents like the price points.  TFs are very expensive, so it's nice to see something less expensive.

You use discount toys to attract people to buy the more expenissve items.  I think Takara tried this line a discount toyline experiment, and in general it worked prety well.

But maybe not enough to try it again without more attractive toys...

Universe isn't dead....  Hasbro are just thinking of a new way to market it.

As for Robotmasters........  I  don't know to be honest.
