Hey all.

Not $500

Not $400

$350 is only for the uber-cool set.

You can get in on the ground floor for $125 and assemble and finish yourself.

Our main site www.a-rabid-squirrel.com has a massive BUY link with details.

Also the devastator horror story is located on our SHIPPING link.

For more info on why this costs so much to make, see Hal's interview at TFormers.com

Cheers!

- Hal

Wow...  :eek I must admit that I am shocked to see the negativity that Hal has had to endure on the various boards. Ultimately, he is a fan who had a vision to create something that other fans could appreciate... the down side is that it is difficult to do so at an affordable price and still make a profit in the end.  :redface

I think that the main issue here is the delivery of the sale. The product is a novel idea - to create something which was a "fan favorite" unproduced G1 character with today's articulation and style.

The theory looks good on paper - but what kills it (other than the price) are the never ending alleged 'unbiased reviews', 'teaser pics', and daily posts with the forever annoying "CHEERS! -Hal" ending on all responses. Taking real critisizms from your target market demographic and dismissing it as irrelevant is possibly the worst thing you could do. Instead, you stubbornly decry it like it's an ignorant slanderous statement from someone who doesn't feel blessed to have an oppportunity to buy one of your pieces. The 'skirting by' of the almost certain legal issues that Hasbro might pursue just pushes it over the edge. It makes you look shady to others - hence the imminent negative backlash that you are experiencing on the different forums.

Look, if SO many fans on many different boards all come to the same negative conclusion about something, (warranted or not) there must be an issue to deal with, right?

Hal, I applaud your efforts. I think what you have created is a very nice recreation of the Arcee character. (And yes, no matter how you look at it, it's G1 Arcee - call it what you will) Just don't be so quick to dismiss or downplay other people's comments about your hard work, and don't assume that you automatically have to sell what everyone needs to buy.

Again, constructive criticizm... so take it how you will.

First, and Joe this is just for you...

I and everyone at Rabid Squirrel Productions take everything we read in this and all forums seriously. We truly do appreciate the input, both postitve and negative.

Its very hard to reply to much of what's written, asked and expected. We know that most of the time it wouldn't matter what we said. Some people love our work, some don't.

The bottom line is that we CAN'T talk about some things, no matter how many people cry, whine, bash, complain, give constructive critisism, whatever, its just not going to happen. Some things WILL go unsaid.

Despite that, we do hear you, all of you. We read EVERY post we find with our name on it. Or the CyberFembot Name. Every Single Post. In most cases we've joined up to the hosting forum and commented.

For good or ill, we're here to do something we believe HAS to be done. People will think what they will about us and myself personally. It comes with the territory.

If it seems like I or Rabid Squirrel Productions is reacting in a way that you think is wrong, take a step back, put yourself in our shoes, look around for a while, then ask yourself the same questions and see what you migh or might not answer in a public forum.

By the way. Since we started we've been offering additional information offline to anyone who wants it.

To date. We've recieved ONE letter and ONE phone call.

So out of the hundreds of posts, and all the things that have been said publicly only two people have taken the time to actually talk to us 1-1.

One last thing. We're not 3H, We're not JD, We're not Transrepro, We're not Reprolabels.

We know its hard, but try and judge us based on what WE have done and not the success or failures of others.

Oh yea.

I say "Cheers" because I really mean just that.

I'm happy to be having these conversations and I hope you are too.

Cheers!

Hi Hal,

Are there any legal remedies for you if somebody rips off your design and sell it for less? Your loopholes can work against you too.

Hi Hal,

We encourage anyone and everyone to do as we've done. Take a great idea and run with it. The same legal protections that Hasbro and Takara have are ours as well.

Thinking of using our work as a starting point for your own? Go for it! Thats what its all about. The end goal should be the same for all fans. The best product at the best price.

I've said this from the beginning, if you can do what we've done, do it better and do it for less, we'll buy it!

Great answer. Thanks, Hal.

The bottom line is that we CAN'T talk about some things, no matter how many people cry, whine, bash, complain, give constructive critisism, whatever, its just not going to happen. Some things WILL go unsaid.

This is competely understandable given your tenuous legal situation. But it breeds apprehension.

If it seems like I or Rabid Squirrel Productions is reacting in a way that you think is wrong, take a step back, put yourself in our shoes, look around for a while, then ask yourself the same questions and see what you migh or might not answer in a public forum.

Ok. I will. As a board member who isn't in an ambitious business venture. I will meet insults head on. In your shoes I would be less showman and more let the results speak for themselves. Word of mouth travels fast. If you have a superior product it will be known in time - whatever the price. Oh and never ever stoop to other's levels. You just end up dirty in a mud fight.

Well there's the fandom's current enthusiasm level.

I can't. You don't have a track record... yet. It's natural to compare similar endeavours. Trust is earned and price has a direct effect on trust. I buy something from a board member and I place an amount of trust in them. I've been trusting people to the tune of less than 50 bucks a transaction. Everyone's threshold is different.

Nice bots, by the way. I'd definitely buy if I had the funds. Any chance for a price cut in the near future?

I'd doubt a price drop; it acutally was originally pre-ordering for $95 unassembled (and $70 with the discount), and the suggestion was they'd try to lower the cost from there.  Instead they've raised it to evidently cover costs.  I should have picked one up a while back, but I was still trying to warm up to the head design and didn't know/expect it to go over a hundred.

And the crazy thing is A Rabid Squirrell's in-your-face Marketting 'Tude is actually an improvement.  You'd think they'd hired a 4-year old with boxing gloves when they first started peddling their prototype like crayon-drawn time machine blueprints. :P  :tftongue
