i caught a line on an ep of Cybertron this week where Op says he never heard of two 'bots combining into one...so is this a continuation of Energon or not???  Hasbro tried to make it such at first, but that line goes against Energon's entire Autobot gimmick...

Well, the claw gives him brute force for Jungle planet. So I don't think they could have combined anything to Prime that would make him faster for Speed planet. A fire truck can't race (unless you stick a rocket on it's back).

G convoy needed speed in a later episode when fighting super starscaream and combined wtih sonic bomber and becomes super fast.

Makes me think of Power Rangers where the Rangers get a new Megazord combo and instantly know how to pilot it.

 

One could always place Optimus on top of Skids and call this a combo. Superspeed feet! :tftongue

It's supposed to be a continuation of Energon in the US. it doens't turn otu to be one due to the dubbing companies lazyness. they basically aren't rewriting when they should.

What's the obsession with combining all the time.  Prime doesn't need 9000 super modes.

Because Prime's now are wussy little rejects that couldn't compare to the real Prime if they tried. Prime never needed a super mode!

 

But Prime being man enough to handle Megs and Galvy without a supermode means no need to toys to combine with him. No toys means no sales, and Hasbro isn't up for that.

Optimus originally had no intention of going to speed planet but had to pick up and go after Redalert reported back saying everything was fuzzored up. The original plan was to have both Hotshot and Redalert find the key on there own but as things turn out Prime has to show up and straighten everything out. Also Speedia has obviously been designed only to give Hotshot something to do since he's basically the only bot from the Autobot team who possesses a fast vehicular alt mode. Having Prime recieve an upgrade to race Overide would be utterly pointless and worst possible direction for the script to go in. Besides I'm going to enjoy Prime as is before the real craptacular powerlinking begins with Leobreaker, and Wingsaber.

You've got a point there!! Can GConvoy combine with Megalo convoys axe, NO!!! So it isn't a Super Mode combination!!
