Diaclone movie at Walmart!

Recommended Posts

Figured I'd post here first.  Funny thing happened in my trip to the super walmart.  They had a $1 video rack near the toy section.  I glanced at the covers and something caught my eye, it was a weird robot with some cartoon people here and there.  I picked it up and flipped it over to see 3 screen grabs...one was more humans, another was some french guy with a machine gun that looked familiar...but the middle one, was INFERNO with a birds crest on his chest...The title right on the slim DVD case was "DEFENDERS OF SPACE" which was the name of a weird Diaclone or Pre TF series I came across years ago.

So the once rare, nearly unheard of Diaclone series featuring the mystic Inferno space fire engine robot that battles armies and kicks arse with his rocket punch...is now found at the $1 rack at walmart...

Quality seems pretty good I guess.  I'll have to dig up the copy I have in storage (might be in French, so the english version is an improvement, and saves me the trouble of converting my copy.

SO YOU LUCKY DIACLONE FANS GO TO WALMART AND FIND YOUR SELVES A COPY!  $1 for Diaclone history!

Ok so I watched the so-called English translation, and it was rather more like a stupid JOKE between the voice actors.  The evil Generals were named with normal peoples names, most of them anyway.  The Nicholas EMPIRE, and the rebel leader Fred...

In Starblazers tradition, all the invaders were blue or green skin colored people, cept the one daughter, who looked Caucasian, a red head named Medusa.  Pretty nice way of disposing of failed generals, they shoot them.

Space carriers and what not flying around, 2 shogun warrior knock offs attacking, and one “Pheonix Kingâ€? Inferno with a black Phoenix crest on his chest, using his rocket punch, fire hose as a laser and the SECRET weapon…his hand gun.  Gee they forgot his arm missiles, and maybe the wings could be used as boomerangs…

“Pheonix King will Save us FOREVER!â€?  “Hurray Phoenix King!â€?

Go get this classic!  See how BAD the Transformers COULD HAVE BEEN…or maybe how great Inferno could have been…either way for $1…

a I remember picking one of those up a while back, and your right the VA's were bad, all what 2 or 3 that they got.

I like to think of it as what g1 inferno did after the g1 cartoon ended.

He moved to china, where he changed his name, and became a big time chinise action star.(like jackey chan only a LOT less popular)

There are hilarious reviews of these videos (apparently from Korea) at collectiondx.com.

I bought a couple of them after getting a tip from a thread at Seibertron.

I did post it in non tf mecha though, maybe I should have put it in here, or

maybe a mod can merge the other one into this one.

Thanks for the update.

It REALLY is good for all Pre-TF interested collectors.  Took me some time back in the day to get my hands on a good copy of that series, and its in French or something.  I made some copies for friends and made screen grabs and custom cover.

NOW you all can share in this video, for way less than it would take for anyone else convert a crappy copy to DVD, make the custom cover and mail.

I wonder if they have Diatron -5 or any other series diaclone like (I only have some prieviews of some weird microman series and others that were somehow related to PRE-TF's)

One involved this big multi changer that could hold a micronaut driver.  a bunch of individual robots, that merged into a couple smaller robots and then into 1 gigantic robot.

Diatron 5 was the best (and worst) involving Wauardus, Big Powered, Battle Buffalo, alien drivers and the power suit.  Weird 1 episode pilot.

So why is this Nicholas guy so hypocritical? Do they ever explain that??

Anyway, that looks really interesting and weird. I never knew that they ever made any Diaclone-related cartoons (outside of "Transformers", I mean). :tflaugh

There's probably a web page out there with listings of related toons.

Off the top of my head

There was one featuring the ball robots, robotman, condor and lion.  Different colors than the microman though.

There was as I said earlier Diatron 5, which was starblazers style, kinda like this Defenders of Space show.

The microman big merge team show I only saw a prieview of (somewhere)

Then there was the series involving Roadbuster as Callibur, and whirl.

There was a comic series on the deluxe insecticons.

comic MANGA for Diaclone (yes diaclone) Also big color catalogs of the toys.

Microchange toys came with little comics.

Then there was the Brave series, which had some transformers repaints in them.

that's about all I can think of.  There might be a bunch more crazy series like Defenders in China, and Korea.

Backfire, did you notice how long it takes for Phoenixking to transform?

That was a big task for him. :tflaugh
