Mm.. 21 with both sets of Constructicons (yellow/red); 15 without?

What do you mean by "just Decepticons"? According to Vector Sigma (Seibertron.com), they were ALL members of one sub-group or another, except Megatron, Rook and Jhiaxus.. in which case, it would be 3?

I believe the first wave was just 8, the 6 constructicons and 2 jets, Bonecrusher, Hook, Long Haul, Mixmaster, Scavenger, Scrapper, Starscream and Ramjet, vs. 11 Autobots, Optimus Prime, Jazz, Sideswipe, Inferno, Bumblebee, Hubcap, Beachcomber, Seaspray, Grimlock, Slag, and Snarl.

Wasn't Megatron released at the end of the first year as well?

I dunno about "waves" (I'm assuming this means the same as it does for the current lines?), but from what I've found, there were 21 in 1993. 22, if you count Devastator seperately from the Constructicons. (and, again, that's if we count the yellow and orange ones as seperate characters)

Nope, Megatron wasn't released 'til the next year with Wave 2, 'cus I remember waiting for it to be announced, and then preordering it for Christmas, and it didn't get released and shipped 'til mid January. And Optimus I had gotten for Christmas the previous year.

G2 first started shipping in winter of '92. Alot of the first wave were re-released in '93 with with the dinobots and Optimus getting recolored.
