Primal's upgarade was caused by the power of Prime's spark, not the Matrix.

whats better than that is the couple episodes leading up to the nemesis in season three, check out the the moniters on tarrantulas' lair. its got pics of the nemesis and lil decepticon symbols. if you noticed it the first time around it was pretty cool.

Okay. According to Cannon (and the Botcon comics IMO do not count as they were NOT widely published. and is not considered a part of the main story line.  Hey they were written and drawn to EXPLAIN that years Toy Repaints for the most part.)

 

 

1. The MATRIX & the Autobot Matrix of Leadership are TWO seperate things.

According to the Standard G1 Timeline (events placed in G1 universe from G1-BM)

 

The Matrix is that heavonly place which originates all TF sparks (not Just good guys),
where as another pointed out, that the Leadership Matrix is not actually the matrix but infact a vessel for the accumilated knowledge and core copies of Every Convoy/Prime since the begining of TF history.

 

the major difference is the MATRIX is inexhastable.  It is everlasting.  The series producers of BM were trying to represent a concept, a idea of what a machine god/afterlife/heaven could represent.  But have it as something the viewer including children could grasp. as the oracle said "you are now interfacing with THE MATRIX, the all source..."

 

Where as The Leadership matrix (named after the TF all source) is exhastable (in the classic G1 episode on the hate plague, in the episodes "the return of optimus prime" pt 1&2, Prime/Convoy again opened the Matrix, releaseing it's knowledge and energy to sweep the universe to cure the "hate plague" with the only known cure.  Knowledge and wisdom. (only way to fight hate and bigotry)  This left the Leadership Matrix Empty.

 

We can only presume that in the "great upgrade" from Autobot to Maximal and with the end of the split between transformers (which is evident from how small the predicon population appeared to be) that the Symbol of the Leadership matrix was never seen with any TF of the Maximal era. (ignoring the JP lines and series for this comment)

 

The Leadership matrix in G1 era served as a method of annointing the next leader of the autobots.  Example: in the film, Prime handed it off to Magnus, but the Leadership Matrix Choose Hot Rod to follow Optimus.  Which is why in thier darkest hour only Hot shot could open it (likly it is keyed to allow access to ONLY it's rightfull steward), which inturn not only set off the destruction of Unicron, but also upgraded Hotshot with a stronger body and mind (mind as it infused him with the knowledge and wisdom of his for-bearers).

 

Yes,  alot of the cannon does contradict, depending on how you look at it.  But I never recall in all the Main timeline it being said that Primes Matrix was the ONLY matrix.

 

Plus when you add in that Primes spark would of been added into the Leadership matrix upon his body ceasing to function.  It would make sence that Primal would take the Leaderships Matrix in order to save time.  (okay this episode is indeed a cannon sinkhole, and became so the minute the whole issue of time became involved mearly because TEMPORAL MECHANICS are insane. Plus Blasting primes head off Should not or would not have that effect. the Temporal causality would mearly state that upon ark reactivation it would have to rebuild his head.  it would not remove him from the timeline.  these are living machines, and to remove prime from the timeline would require destroying his spark.  The only way around that argument would be to say that destroying his head disrupted and canceled the stasis program keeping his spark intact.

 

 

But then, as i've said before elses.. the incongruitiys of 20 yrs of TF are too plentyfull to make anysence off  :tflaugh

You got that right!! I remember hearing about the Matrix of Leadership and going, "WTF! That is so phoney! Prime was opened up several times and even by the Decepticons and there was never a Matrix inside of him. Megs would have been constantly after that thing"
