On the reissue, I really like this toy, but I would imagine that there were a lot of other characters to reissue first (most people have been begging for the Dinobots for example). 

Rumor has it the Dino-bots weren't too popular in Japan, which has probably pushed any potential reissues to the back of the queue.

 

I have to admit that Laser Prime was a figure I *thought* I wanted a lot more than I *actually* wanted. It's a great mold but the colors really are meh (all of them). If they redid him, they'd need to use darker, metallic blue and red colors IMO. And actually use blue plastic on those light-pipe eyes this time.

 

Oh and friggin' paint the details next time.

This is why I think that he might be given the "G1-treatment."  After all, I don't think people are terribly nostalgic about the original toy - but they do like additional representations of the "Convoy" character...

I have always wanted that version of Prime, i thought he had potential up to the point that they redid him in RID. Im glad theyre making a g1 paint scheme. That is ONE repaint I approve of. All others suck. Im sick of hearing the "black" convoy all the time. Get away from that, its a stupid concept.

In case it hasn't been mentioned on TFans before, (too lazy to go thru entire thread)

 

It's been mentioned that the reissue will be 'electroplated' (chromed)  which i asume refers to repalcing the flat grey on the tanker.

 

Hope they remember to do the stacks as well.......

you know, the only real problem with Laser Prime is the X-TREEEM stickers. if Takara chromed the trailer and made new stickers for the robot-mode windows like they did with Black Convoy then Laser Prime would look really good.

Well, I agree with everyone that that this is an unexpected treat from the people of Hasbro. I however disagree with the fandoms need to have Rid Prime repainted like G1 Optimus Prime. Personally I'd take this repaint as is. Flames, stickers and all. It all suits the mold for the time it was. Red and blue would just look uber lame, as well as having a dulled grey trailer with G1 decalling.  :puke Besides he already sports red in bot mode.

 

If Hasbro does release this locally through TRU I will deffinitely pick it up. I aquired  a completed Rid Scourge a while back in Endcapping and though it's an awsome mold all around it's just not Optimus Prime IMO. Greatr chance to finally close that gap between G2 and Rid. :thumb

 

On the topic of other Primes. I for one thought Starconvoy was pretty cool for an oversized brick and I'd have gladly preordered one if I had the money. Also I think another cool Hasbro exclusive would be a rerelease of Machine Wars Prime. That's a mold I can see in G1 colours because it'd basically an updated more futuristic G1 Powermaster Prime only without the lame brick enhanced supermode. Also would it be possible for Hasbro to reissue with The original firing gimick of Thunderclash if the exclussive was only intended for adult collectors or does the safety code still get in the way?
