The gold sparkle in the plastic made it brittle, (see Black Zarak syndrome)  I bought one about three years ago, took it out of the package and the hood disintegrated in my hand.

G2 Prime was released in Japan. The trailer was in trailer mode, but the cab was in robot mode, visible through a window. A lot(all?) of the G2 stuff released in Japan was packaged in robot mode(Dreadwing/Smokescreen, Cyberjets...)

I certainly remember seeing Laser Rod prime packaged that way.  Not so sure that the 'Original'  G2 Prime was released in Japan....  Attempting to clarify.

He was released in Japan. That's the packaging where he was posed in robot mode with his hands on his hips. He's pretty rare.

i just bought this prime online for $6... maybe i'll get the reissue too... very cool!
