I have already pre-ordered BT Skids and am anxiously awaiting its release, but w/ BT* Broadblast, I am not so sure I wanna spend my money on it.

 

I was just looking at the new pictures up on amazon.com-Japan and for the first time I really looked at the two of them. This seems to be the first time in the BT line that there are absolutely no differences between the molds besides the colors. Even the heads and rims on the wheels are exactly the same. On every other re-color in the BT and BT* lines, there has been some remolding (if you don't count Sunstreaker, but that was really a remold anyway, we all know that), usually making the 2nd release into a street racer or something, but in this one, they are exactly the same.

 

The funny part about this is that the Scion bB is supposed to be super-customizable, so it would make absolute sense and be completely justifiable for these two releases to look totally different, but that was just not done. Even on the many releases of the Subaru mold (ie Smokescreen I and II, Streak and now BT* alert), they all have different rims at the very least, not to mention different spoilers, air-rams, etc. Why was this not done on the bB? They could have done something, that is for sure.

 

I have seen numerous commercials where the bB morphs into all kinds of permutations, but for some reason, BT Skids and Broadblast are both the same. Is this laziness on the part of Takara, or some other reason? I personally planned on buying, and so far have bought, every BT release, even the BT*s, but now I don't know if I am going to buy this one. I like the new colors, but I am not sure if I want to spend $65 for a straight recolor, plus some little girly thing. What do you people think? Are people going to just buy one or the other, or neither?

 

(funny, totally random thing, a Scion bB just pulled into the parking lot outside my window as I am writing this. It looks nothing like Skids or Broadblast and actually looks even better than either (chromed rims and tinted windows, things that would have worked perfectly for Broadblast IMO)).

Luckily the only Alt the suffers this problem is Sunstreaker but you all know the story with that. This is one of the reasons I dont know If I want Broadcast. I'm holding out hoping Hasbro Treats this character better that Takara.

Well, it comes with the little PVC doll too lol. Other then that it is a straight repaint like swerve and sunstreaker. I plan on just getting Skids since I think silver is way over used on cars in general. Plus i just do not like the scion that much to buy to autobots...Maybe if one were a decepticon. When are we getting another decepticon?

So far BT Asterisk = recolors + piddly anime girl pvc.

 

(alert is the exception of course. Can't make a police car without at least a light bar.)

 

It's an attempt to cater to the Japanese market and inflate the price to get more profit. It's sort of a TF Universe-like sub line to me.

 

Other than the alternate color releases like BT blue Tracks, blue Prowl, and red Meister. Those seem to be at the car maker's insistence. I get the feeling Takara's gonna be shunting the recolors over to BTA. Make BT seem less crowded. They already postponed the silver S2000.

 

I'd rather not collect BTA 'less I have to.

This is exactly my take as well, from now on all the straight repaints will be shunted over into the BTA line.  At least they'll be a new character instead of red Meister, blue Prowl, etc.

hence why i don't like by repaints or remold. i kinda feel like i'm being ripped off. even with the small differences in the othe alts, i just don't find spending more money and the same car that transformers the same way. the one i got was sunstreaker and thats because he and sideswipe were both lambo's in the 80's
