I don't see why you are all Starscreaming about Target getting these.  In all reality, I'm sure a lot more than 40% of the fandom has access to a Target (even if you have to drive 30 minutes to get to one), and Target is certainly a FAR superior choice than, say, KB toys.

It's like this. You'll either A.) Drive until you find a Target that has the exclusives. B.) Find an online or local hobby store carrying the exclusives. C.) Get the exclusives off of EBay or some other online auction site. Or most importantly, D.) Skip the exclusives and STFU.

You know if hasbro was smart they would make it a shared exclusive and offer it on the hasbro shop and at target. But from collecting transformers for several years now I know they are not smart at all.

On a side note I have 8 targets in a 50 mile radius and never once seen last years exclusive universe figure (nemesis mammoth) at any of them

Yes all of that is true but my point is it doesn't make sense to restrict certain releases where about 60% of the fandom only has access to them in a store setting. If I came off as overly bitchy it's just frustration setting in from never being able to find these great items locally. Last year Target got numerous Universe/Energon exclusives and it really sucks constantly having to rely on Ebay to find these. Also it kills the fun of searching for them locally. :tdown

Top props to the members in the Endcap though. When it comes to hard to find items you guys rock. :thumb

Speaking of exclusives. What was the story with the Optimus/Megatron deluxe two pack. Was that an exclusive or was it wide distribution. Never saw it. :tdown

The main reason why Hasbro would want to do an exclusive is because they anticipate the item won't sell as much as a regular release one.  So, because of that reason, they want to restrict it (i.e. make it an exclusive) to a certain store.  The secondary reason is to make a certain store happy by letting them have an exclusive.  It may also allow Hasbro to charge a bit more per unit but I'm not sure if Hasbro does this or not.  Bottom line is if Hasbro can sell 20,000 units to Target (and 20,000 may be all that they plan to make) then its a win for Hasbro and they don't need to find a different seller.  So yes, maybe Canada and other non US folks get screwed but Hasbro doesn't care as long as they can sell the # of units they want to sell.  And, it actually does make sense to restrict it to 60% of the fandom as long as the 60% buys all of what they make.  If they decided to make a regular run of it (which usually is 50,000 units) then no, 60% of the fandom will NOT be able to buy all 50,000 units.  You are right in saying that having it exclusive to Walmart or TRU can be beneficial for both US and Canadians.  But Target is a huge chain who Hasbro needs to keep good relations with too so they have to throw them a cookie once in a while.  And as Shadow ES pointed out, TRU or Walmart may not have been interested in carrying the exclusive.

I hate exclusives, but that's a whole nother topic.

:eek Ooooh, while I'm at it, I think I'll post these:

Alternators Sunstreaker

Alternators Skids

Nice, even the Scion xB no longer has my hate, as long as it's Skids of course.  Still, both Alternators look good.  It's rather amusing that people will pay thirty dollars more for a few pieces of metal and duller paintscheme on Sunstreaker.

But, I guess the little plastic figure of an anime girl makes up for it. I'm soooooo jealous. :roll  :tftounge

whats with the Sail behind Sunstreakers head?
