Ben Yee, TF fan spokesman

Recommended Posts

He established a relationship with the BW writers years ago(Hence his consultant credit. the episode where Waspinator gets bonked on the head and begins spouting giberish also contains a reference to his user name on usenet, Wonko The Sane.), and runs one of the more popular TF sites on the web. It's no wonder he was picked.

That ep was awsome. :rofl

Waspinator pwns all. :thumb

So, who was the TF consultant for Beast Machines?

Oh that's right... nooobody.

I like his site and his reviews but they tend to be on the overly positive side, so I read em with some sodium. I don't find the reviews to be balanced or critical enough. But that's probably cause he really really likes a lot of toys.

I didn't agree with the Botcon exclusive 'reviews'. Ben had a hand in the design process and I disagree with a great deal of the choices and decisions made.

I've seen the fandom churn out a lot of really cool and innovative ideas. Even though he explained why this and that was done. I kept thinking, but you can do better. I'm not sayin that out of jealousy. I have no talent. :) It's just a pity they didn't bother to seek our input so we end up with mediocre exclusives. :(

Lets see, because Ben has been around in the TransFan universe since the start.  Because he was probably the first to build a BW page, and then create a huge review page.  Because he was very active in the BotCon pannels and what not.  Because he wrote all those articles.  Because he talked to anyone and everyone he could that worked on the series.

And because he's a pretty good guy.  I havn't talked to him in years but knew him personally back when I haunted the Botcons.  Not too over the top know it all, with some imagination to back the knowledge.

Not to mention, a lot of the volunteer work he did for FREE, and volunteer he did.

Those of us who simply post on a news group like this once in awhile don't exactly measure up.

I'd be all over volunteering if there was even a hint of a BotCon in Australia :redface

yeah true, i mean not many of us have money to fork over for a domain name, and bandwidth, also not many have html, java, php, asp(web apps) skills

i don't claim to be an expert but bwtf.com is very impressive and a good resource. he konows his stuff so i only hope he gets picked to help with the new toon

BWTF.com is one of my favorite sites allthough I do agree that his reviews are often too postive.

He is not very consistent either. I remember him reviewing Universe Fireflight and commenting that it was expensive being $10 for a basic and 2 Mini-Cons. So he felt the price was questionable and gave the toys a lower grade.

Later he reviewed Stockade and Magna Stampede and he did comment that Hasbro push it a bit by asking $20 for 2 basics and 2 Mini-Cons but did not adjust his grade. He stated that one of the molds was not easily available but that should not mean you pay $10 for that extra basic.

I never really got that. I thought $10 for a basic and 2 Mini-Cons is a fair price (any higher and it would have been unfair) and that 20 is really too steep.

Still he does great work reviewing all those toys. I reviewed a few toys on www.TFormers.com and it is a lot of work. I just take his reviews with a grain of salt at times.  :thumb

Magna Stampead was like Realy rare back in the day.
