Ben Yee, TF fan spokesman

Recommended Posts

anybody remember when BW was on, and in the 2nd season 3 parter, credit was given to Ben Yee as G1 consultant. I know the writers talked with him on Alt Toys Transformers for info. and then this past summer Ben was asked by Hasbro to write the convention comic. So why does he get picked by the big H to write a comic? Im sure there are many of us who are very knowledgeable in TF mythos whether in G1 comic or toon, that Hasbro can pick either one of us.

Um... probably because Hasbro is more familar with him than your average TF fan?

He established a relationship with the BW writers years ago(Hence his consultant credit. the episode where Waspinator gets bonked on the head and begins spouting giberish also contains a reference to his user name on usenet, Wonko The Sane.), and runs one of the more popular TF sites on the web. It's no wonder he was picked.

he reminds of a fellow in GI joe fandom. He does articles for Master Collector(same company that runs both the TF and Joe convention) unlike Ben, most joe fans despise him from what i heard.

Basically Ben has some connections / contacts.  I can't remember how it all started though.  I do believe the Beast Wars writers read the ATT newsgroup.  There are references to other parts of the fan community in Beast Wars as well, such as "Sector Tengu."

It's like everything else in this world...it's not what you know, it's who you know...

That's so true.

Doesn't matter that HE got picked. Just be glad that someone was involved, and that Hasbro cared enough to actually ask someone in the Fanbase to help them. I find it contemptable that you are so jealous about this. So what if he is Habro's number 1 man? THat's not a bad thing. Just let the man do what he does, and let it be.

Wonko = Ben Yee?  I had no idea :eek2

maybe also because he's given Hasbro more money than most of us have?
