Alt Prowl

Recommended Posts

I have all 3 BT RX-8's.  I'll ask for BT Prowls for Christmas.

Well goody for you.  :tflaugh

I just got my BT-15s in the mail yesterday, the hell with waiting until Christmas!

I say pick up Prowl just for sake of having another cool BT or Alt. on your hands!    :thumb

Alt. Prowl is a good toy, despite the numerous complaints from people.

The car mode looks great and it's nice to have an Alternator that really stands out from the rest.  He comes with some nice weapons that fit his police car motif.  The red stick in translucent plasitc and his laser gun are clearly indicators of this.  He looks like a cop with a nightstick and handgun.  The robot mode does look good and, regardless of what others say, the legs look just fine transformed in the intended way.  The details on the legs clearly show that it's meant to be that way.  Otherwise, if you are so inclined, let Prowl's trunk door be the front of the legs.  As for the complaints about broken mirrors, it has not happened to me.  It's probably because I don't open the doors, which close nice and securely, be pulling on the side mirrors.  You will be glad that you bought Alt. Prowl.

Prowl's arms aren't as hard as everyone says, after you figure the right way to do it - check it:

Once the engine is out, reach through the open hood, and swivel one arm so that the bicep/tricep area has its socket facing out, then rotate the entire assembly outwards.  reverse to put him back.

The only problem I'm having is getting his engine to stay put, and shut the hood..... any ideas as to what i may be doing wrong?

Dunno there- mine (so far) has been able to mount the engine and shut fine. Maybe it's just one of those things in slight imperfections in mold results or somethhing.

I see what yo mean with the arms. Not totally intuitive, but once you see the trick....

Okay, I like him. No my favorite but it's nice to have a totally new mold. He's up with my other 'bots now.

You have to put the front of the engine below the surface that the hood closes over. Then take the back and snap it below the little tab to keep it in place. Wish I could take a pic, but you should be able to figure it out.

Anyway, the fig is great, despite all the complaints, i'd take a new mold over a retooled one anyday.

I say get prowl now.....He is worth it. and his legs were NOT assembled backwards...That is how they are supposed to be and you can always switch them around yourself, i believe there was already a thread about that. Shockblast is ok, however he has his issues too. The hood always comes off, the arms always pop off and his arms are just as tricky to get back in place. ALL the alts/bt have their annoyances Except the S2000 guys.

That's interesting. I've experienced all those issues with the Silverstreak/Smokescreen mold. The arms are an absolute pain to get in and out, the hood detaches frequently, and the weapon won't store properly in bot mode. I have no complaints about leaving this bot in bot mode. Hound, and Sideswipe however are a piece of cake and a lot of fun to transform back an fourth imo.

Reguading Prowl, I really like him, and though I have yet to find one I can see his transformation is similar to Grimlock. Haven't decided weather or not I'll do the leg swap but we'll see.

Between Meister an Shockblast I like em both and though I again have yet to find either would definitely consider owning both variations. Thus far in the line this is the first and only Decepticon repaint I'd ever consider owning.

IMO Shockblast has an edge over Meister.  Meister is just TOO plain needs more black paint on the arms....

I opened them but put them back in since I didn't have a place to put them at the moment.

I have to say, I've TFed him 3 times now and his arms going in and out (shoulder) is a bit of a slowdown, but not nearly what WheelJack or Gimlock's are. No big deal. He does look good. He's sitting up with the rest of the gang, right next to my new Jazz that came in the mail courtesy of WRX-78 this weekend.

My annoyance with BT Prowl - which I doubt will be a problem with the Alt version - is that the diecast makes him a bit too heavy for the ball joints in his ankles/feet.

This makes him veeerrry prone to tipover suddenly - so a warning:  if you have him on a shelf, be sure and put him on suicide watch because he's likely to jump.
