When did you exactly started collecting TFs

Recommended Posts

my collecting started the minute after i unwrapped my G2 prime i got for christmas 1990 or 91 dont remember. by the time BW ca up i had around 30 figures from g2. that's all i bought was either those or the new aged star wars figures that popped up around 94. I have a god sized collection now around 300 or so up to RID. I stopped buying figues until Alts came out and the reissues. When the current lines came out I was displeased to what they did to the franchise and saw those three series to be offensive in nature to what i grew up with.

I played with my brother's old ones when I was young (87-92 or so). Then I lost most of them.

I watched Beast Wars, and bought clearanced TM2 Cheetor and Dinobot in 2001.  My girlfriend at the time then got me RiD Prime.  I've been collecting ever since.

1997 Machine Wars Starscream at KB.

I started collecting G1 again around 2001.  I got into everything Transformers within the last year when I finally broke down and bought an Altenator.

I collected from 84-88 as a child - My first TF was Trailbreaker.  my collection petered out at around 50 figs.  A lot of big names - Omega, Metro, Devy, Brut, Menasor, Defensor, OP.

Then one day - I look back and wonder - Where the HELL did all my TFs go?

No one in my family can remember a thing.

I got back into it after seeing BW eps, season 3, in college.  In 1998, I bout Optimal Optimus, and shortly thereafter, TM2 Megatron.

My collection has now blossomed to TWELVE TIMES that of my former collection (of which, i've recollected most of my old figs), and I am a very happy Tfan.

I really started in 1997 or so. I casually collected toys before then, but not as a hobby.

WTF?  :wtf

my original post is gone?

Oh well here I go ...again,

In late'83,Blitzwing was my first one-also my first return(a fault with the tank gunbarrel)

Replaced by BLUESTREAK !

but my first transforming toy was 'buggyman' from the Machine man line in '82 :thumb

:redface

Yea.......I'm old  :tdown

2001 was when i officially started collecting starting with armada

Same. :thumb

Until then all I was a Powermaster Prime I recieved in the mid 80s and a G2 Prime I recieved for Christmas in the early 90s. I also picked up all three Autobot Brothers from Rid and purchased both Optimus and Ultra Magnus off Ebay as well as a knock off G1 Devastator set. The first bit of actual interest I showed towards collecting was when I found and bought the G1 reissues of Optimus and Ultra Magnus from TRU. Reguarding Armada I blame Dreamwaves involvement for that.

I wouldn't consider myself a serious collector since I may have grown into it I've never stopped playing and fiddling with them. :thumb

1984.  Been in and out of it for years (collecting and mentally  :tftongue ).

ToyRUs just opened in my city and TF's were that years Cabbage Patch dolls (to kids these days that would be Tickle me Elmo).  They sold out everywhere.

I got Megatron and Cliffjumper for Christmas.  My one brother got Optimus and Brawn, my other brother got Windcharger and my other brother got Gears.  None of them were really into TF's, I just talked them into it so I could have more toys to play with  :eplus .... and I still have them all too.

When I was in 8th grade (97) I discovered there was actually a Transformers community online. I got on eBay picked up several minibots and whatever I could get for less than $25 a pop.
