Interesting how the Beast Planet characters are all Technorganic in the concepts...but then were changed into highly robotic for the final product.

Interesting how the Beast Planet characters are all Technorganic in the concepts...but then were changed into highly robotic for the final product.

it's good enough that everyone on Beast Planet has robo-beast modes, there really was no need to make them techno-organic.

One surprising relevation from Hasbro at Botcon is that the main Transformers toyline is actually aimed at a younger age group than most of us imagined.

but would it really hurt them to give the toys a more mature look?

I am confused - What age ARE they Aiming for???

i mean we all assume that its "7 year olds and up..." but what is younger than a 7yo?? i mean arent 5yo's still playing with "My first Gobot TF" or whatever (brillinat things i tell you)

i agree - it woulnt hurt to have the figs be a bit more mature after all they are more expensive and more complicated than the average Turtle Doll.... i hate to say it but i have always thought of Trans-Fans as slightly Elite...  Like the kids who still do Puzzles and such or READ vs. TV... there is simply just MORE there.

That being said -  I think That GoBots/Cybertron/Alt/Universe&Reissues (cause really these should have been all the same thing) hits a wide enough demographic to cover all the bases.

KidDynamite of tfw2005 reported this from BotCon:

- Hasbro is aware of the trend these days of kids growing up faster and not playing with toys as long. They try to add technology into the toys to keep older kids as long as possible, and actually said that inherently Transformers complexity means it is the last toy boys play with before they outgrow toys. However, the largest market for toys is actually 3-5 year olds, and they make take the opportunity the movie provides to expand Transformers to capture that demographic

While TF's are probably not for 3-5 year olds (I'm guessing they're intended more for 5-8 year olds - I think the packages say, "Ages 5 and Up"), the size of the 3-5 year old market is probably large enough that Hasbro would like to capture a little bit of it with the TFs line, especially since I think the PlaySkol Go-Bots line is dead.

I'm just not seeing a 3year old getting much out of C-Prime... sorry Archer..

lol just under the pic of megs in robot form there is that small square showing early ideas of a car/jet... lol we could of had him with bumblebee's cybertronian alt form lol
