I liked the older packaging better but if this is what it takes for them to sell better with the children (clearly their intention) than I am all for it.

I hope you don't have to destroy the packaging to open these... the old boxes provide a perfect storage method for those not on display.

 

And it looks like from P. Prime's Sunstreaker pics that they still haven't gotten the mold's hood to close :tdown

Didn't someone predict a while ago that they would indeed revamp the Alt. packing to resemble Cybertron? I don't think this is a coincidence. Remember how Energon had the navy blue card backings, and Alt. boxes were blue...then by the time the Powerlinx repaint line started up, the Alt. boxes went red, albeit with the classic "grid" design of the G1 packaging.

 

Hasbro should at least be given credit for changing the boxes with the lines to appeal to kids as well as adults. BTW I love the new packaging, but damn that'll be hell to open.

 

 

On a similar note -- could this be WHY Alts. are getting hard to find, because they plan to now distribute the upcoming ones in the shiny new boxes?

Loads of people, including me figured out. It was pretty obvious

 

1st Alt packaging looked like early Energon packaging.

2nd Alt packaging looked like second Energon package

 

pretty easy to spot a trend.

 

If they were in different packaging  they wouldn't so easily catch the attention of the average consumer, who may think it's something other than a TF

 

BTW:  I love how Sunstreaker has his full name on the plate.  Sometimes it IS easy to please me.

the 'just print the motto' thing on the bottom of the box isn't up to much. It's like the dumbed Prowl down.

 

No cross sell either.

 

And the revised art for Prowl....  well to put it somewhat crudely..........
