Troubles with lousy work shop conditions.

Recommended Posts

Ok, so here's the deal.  You, a customizer and all around imaginative person, wake up refreshed first thing Saturday morning with solutions to custom problems that has been bothering you all week.  You SPRING out of bed wanting to yell UREKA!  Whip out the tools, the materials…and things like laundry, that box of yard tools and the contents of your junk drawer, which has been stuck in a box since the bottom broke and you need to fix it…totally put the brakes on your project.

I have a couple projects in the works (get bored with just one) and can’t get them done because of hindrances like this.  That and the bedroom is not exactly the best place for it.

This sorta thing happen to any of you?

I just moved my kitbashing (eg. small) tools from my workshop to a cubby in my kitchen because the shop was sufficiently far from home that it kept me from going out to work on any of the projects that I've started (I've not actually /finished/ a kitbash to date =P)

And yeah, the kitchen's just not the place to work. I had all day today to whip out the epoxy and put the rotation joint I took from A. Starscream's hip into Cybertron HotShot's waist (I cut him in haf and drilled my holes and sanded yesterday and the day before and it looks quite clean.) But did I actually /do/ the bonding today? No. Not a chance. Crappy workspace is to blame.

Well... that and the ex =P

I feel your pain, man.

*edit typos*

I don't even have a workspace...AND IT'S F@$#% KILLING ME!!!! :grr

uhh i can always work in my dad's shed. other then there, i work in meh room

My wife and I live in a 2-bedroom apartment.  Our bedroom is obviously one of these rooms, and the other bedroom serves for way to many functions.  First, both of our PCs are in there (plus office supplies, etc.).  Next, we both love toys.  My wife loves Muppets and Harry Potter, so her toys are displayed, as well as what few TFs I have here (80% of my collection [G1-early Energon] are at my parents house).  We have 4 bookshelves in here with books and my TFs (mostly Alts and BTs).  My closet in in here as well.  Lastly we have my little kitbashing table.  Yes this is all in one room.  I had my guitars in here as well, but I had to free up some room.  This room functions for way to many things, but it's the best we can do right now.  I am thankful to have a place (albeit small) for my art (right now only customs, which is another aggrivation in and of itself), but we are both already tired of being cramped in. I'm so cramped in (which is one main reason I can't use aerosol or airbrushes, but that's another discussion as well), but part of making any kind art, I feel, is using what you have available and making it work. :tfgrin

That sucks, Quad... but not /quite/ as much as paying more rent sucks...

Luckily for me I'm in the cheapest /decent/ apartments in my city.

Well, we have a pretty nice place, it's just the fact that we're so cramped in with this one room.  Plus, the only TFs I have here are mid-Energon-current, plus a few from previous lines that I brought with me (key word "few").  Though not complete, my G1 collection is pretty extensive and I set all of my TFs (G1-early Energon) up in diaromas in glass cabinets.  My bedroom was covered with TF posters (over 10) and my few "valuable" items (TF#80 and G1 #1 signed by Furman and my soundtrack signed by Vince DiCola).  Things like that.

Someday, when we buy a house, we (yes, I said 'we') want to have a huge toy room, and I have put in my petition for an art studio.  Then I have to remind myself I am a youth pastor and my wife is a special education teacher . . .

Oh well, here's to dreamin'!

Dreaming is good. It's important.

...and if you don't make tons of money... at the end of the day I'm pretty sure both of you know that what you do is way more important than that.

I wasn't trying to say anything about the condition of your place... just noting how damned lucky I am to have such a nice apartment for only $300 a month

No, never happens to me.

I simply don't jump out of bed all refreshed. I usually crawl out of bed cursing I'm awake and my mind so fuzzy I sometimes end up in the bathroom wondering where the fridge has gone so I can get my breakfast.

Other than that. From the looks of it, I've got it rather good. I'm single (okay, THAT I would like to see changed) with a house all for myself: living room, bedroom, hobby/study room and an attic. The attic is not only to store stuff, but I've also put up an old desk beneath the window (light and fresh air) where I do my painting/bashing. I even have a sink there for washing my hands and parts. (Not all I need is the right paint, glue and finding ABS plastic.)

Single, eh?

I told my buddy tonight that I needed a girlfriend, tired of being single.

He told me that as soon as I found one I'd be tired of having a girlfriend.

But I figure it's good to have a change of what you're tired of every now and then ;)
