bm ultra jetstorm

Recommended Posts

anyone else have problems with this? i just found my jetstorm in one of my tf boxes and all the chrome blue paint on him is flaking off. im pretty sure saving him is not an option. and im not anything of a kitbasher. but at the same time im not worried because i have botcon cyclonus. but then im worried that it might happen to him. anyone else have this problem?

the pic isnt that great but i think the paint flaking is visable. if i even touch it itll just all come off. theres prolly a lil collection of this shiney blue crap at the bottom of the box he was in.

I'm scared this will happen to my BT07 Smokescreen. Their color scheme and paint jobs remind me of each other.

the flaking probably depends on the temp it was stored in and the amout of wear and tear. Must of my transmetal figs are still good but my first ever transmetal, Rattrap is multing all over the place.

Ps. I keep my U Jetstorm in it's original box so it cant get rubbed.

Thats a sign of cheap paint.  You can find toys transformers and otherwise that are 20 years old and have been playe with rough that don't have paint that flakes like that.

The only TFs I curently have which are transmetal painted are RID Optimus Prime, and Ultra Magnus. Cheaply painted indeed. I display both out of the box, and don't transform them terribly often, but the paint on both is flaking like mad. The white plastic on UM, as well as the gray on Op also looks faded and dull.  :tfsad I bought both of these brand new way before getting my G1 commemoritive versions of each and they still look mint on display.  :wtf Again on the topic of Transmetal painting, I personally dislike it and would sooner have the parts molded in colour with added paint aps like everything so far in Armada/Energon, and Cybertron. Much more pratical, and durable for a childs toy IMO.

im pretty sure if i just take a wet cloth and wipe him on the flaking peice, it will just be a solid grey peice of plastic afterwords. it sucks.

This is a common problem with Ultra Jetstorm, as well as the random smattering of Transmetal and Transmetal 2 toys.  There's nothing you can do about it once it starts, especially if the entire surface has taken on that "crinkley" texture.  It's simply gone.  I had this happen with my first TM2 Scourge, but I had caught it early enough that only a few spots had flaked, and I quickly coated the chrome bits with nailpolish.  At that point, the minimal chrome flaking kinda blended in with his spots, so it didn't bother me much.

If you're worried about the chrome flaking, and it hasn't shown signs of it yet, coat the chrome bits in a layer of nail-polish or clear acrylic paint (like Tamiya), or a clear-coat sealer, and that should take care of it nicely.

Binaltech toys shouldn't be an issue, beyond the normal minor paint chipping that occurs with them.  They won't shed like a leper, as the body colour isn't a vacuum metalized chrome surface, it's just metal flake paint.

i have yet to see that with any of my tms or tm2s. surwe hope i dont either. having to buy those over again would blow.

CHROME SUX, it's shiny it's flakey and paint adheres to it like eggs in a tefelon pan !

I remember the first gobots(machine robo), all non metal parts that were chromed lost the chrome within weeks, I hated the transmetals because I knew the paint would chip and flake! :tfmad

................................My poor Jetstorm is suffering the same fate  :redface

SORRY,........................................ years of anguish  :redface

Got the same problem with my ultra Jetstorm, and only him. sure transmetals can get chromewear, but none of em shows any damage that resembles the damage on jetstorm. I think it is a production flaw.

Yeah I don't think it's a problem with chrome per se. Some figures are just unlucky. My son's TM Primal has been dropped down stairs etc. etc. and it never chipped once. On the other hand, TM Rattrap will flake if you look at him sideways.

But man, that's an ugly looking Jetstorm.... :tfsad real bummer dude :tdown
