who created the transformers?

Recommended Posts

i dont mean the quints,i mean the entire concept of transformers.

okay i know diaclone was the japanese line the tfs derived from.

i also know that hasbro bought the molds to creat the tfs.

what i dont know is which came first the toys[transformers not diaclone] or the cartoon.

because many people are responsible fot the transformers [diaclone, microman, marvel, hasbro, takara]

bottom line who created the transformers

What's been stirring in my mind is who created the show, not so much the toys. Was it America or Japan? According to the Transformer DVD Sets, they had american writers.. yet if you watch credits, it's all a bunch of japanese names.. and if it's true that it was american made, it makes no sense that it still has japanese influences..espically when america dropped out of TF and Japan pushed onwards in it's own direction.

It's quite a puzzle..

It is my understanding that Hasbro licensed the toys from Takara, renamed them Transformers for the US market and hired Marvel to name and create a story for the robots. Once TFs began selling like hotcakes in the USA and the cartoon was about to hit the TVs, Japan followed suit and scrapped the Diaclone idea and changed their line to Transformers.

It was written in America. Some episodes (and the movie) were animated in Japan. (The other episodes were animated in Korea.)

And there were only Japanese influences in a few specific episodes. Not in the series as a whole.

Yeah, the idea of "Transformers" and the storyline behind it was American. The toys were Japanese and licensed from Japan. Japan followed Hasbro when Transformers became a hit.

The cartoon is American, though animated in Asia.

Good question, but sadly, I do not know the answer.

hmm, perhaps if we ask hasbro....yeah, like that will work!

The original cartoon,Beast Wars, and Beast Machines were written for American audiences. Every series other than those three are written for Japan and some are brought over here.
