Recommended Posts

hey guys its been along time since i stopped collecting tranformers. I got a some transformers from before but they aint to good. i got a couple really really good ones like MIB Trypticon and MIB G1 optimus prime and brave max but i want to restart my collection. i was wondering what series i should start collecting. Now i know most of you GEEWUN fans are gonna tell me to collect G1 and i personally know G1 rocks, but my pocket is probably not as big as yours. i dont have much money to spend. so im asking you which series do you think that is worth collecting that wont burn a hole in my pocket.

Im asking you one transfan to another

^^LOL jus kiddin that sentence was too serious. Just tell me what damn series to collect. :thumb  :thumb

Alternators and Cybertron.  Two very good lines IMHO.

If your going money wise, pick up some KO gestalts (combiners) for filler (leave them in box, they break easy). also I might suggest checking out:

big ol' thread just for this kind of thing :thumb

you can always fine deals on gen 1 toys. I been collecting my gen 1 for about 3 years now. Only fort max, has or is going to put a whole in my pocket. all the other I bought either in lots or single. But Keep an eye out for them , look at small local stores or shows. Look here on the boards.

I reccommend Alts or BTs.

It all depends on what your collecting for really.  Cybertron is proving to be a very nice line so far, alot of very nice figures over all and at a decent price point.  The alternator line is very collector based and is mostly G1 homages so its good for nostagia but with far better figures then the bricks that were G1.  Also you may still be able to find some Energon on store shelves, and though i personally didn't like most of that line there were some decent figures in the series.

Depends what you like. Personally I like beast wars, and one day I'll get around to assembling a show cast. All of the lines have something to offer.

Just don't get Armada.

If you could backtrack, I'd say get RiD.

I've been having to put most of my collection in storage and the only ones I'm leaving on display are my Galaxy Force, Binaltech/Alternators, and Robot Masters.  Obviously if you're looking for affordability, go with Cybertron over GF, but you can't go wrong with the series.  The show (available over at tvnihon.com) is hands down the best Transformers show yet.  It totally restored my faith in the series after Micron legend and Superlink.  To top it off, the toys always surprise me.  I didn't get excited about too many of them seeing pics online, but once I had the figures I was amazed.  I recommend Gaurdshell (Landmine), Exillion (Hotshot), Galaxy Convoy (Optimus), Master Megatron (uummmm), and Back Pack (Scattorshot) as some cool starters.  The Minicons are also nifty.  Personally, I prefer the smaller Starscream which is not yet available here, so I suggest waiting for the Starscream vs Vector Prime two pack for either of them.  Also, when you can get any of the Vangaurd team, everyone of them is better than any pictures online will suggest.

If you're interested in BTs or Alts, the best one for G1 Homage is Hound.  The Jeep mold is cool and has a complex transformation without being a head ache to switch back and forth.  My favorite out of the line though is the red Meister from BT.  The Mazda bots have an awesome robot mode, and it looks good in red.  Homage can frell itself in this case.

Robot Masters or Universe I'd recommend only if you want a single line that offers some diversity of figures.  Robot Masters has some neat exclusive figures, but Universe has more of a diverse selection, offering everything from Machine Wars, RID and Armada, to Japanese exclusive Beast Wars.  Some of the paint schemes are kinda bleh, but all in all, Universe has some strengths that don't really get enough attention.
