IDW Transformers: Inflitration #0 Preview

I guess I'm just saying that I recognize comics' obvious dependence on effective visuals, but it seems like some people *just* want killer artwork. As if that can somehow make up for a bland story. I'm like, buy a DW calendar if that's all you're looking for.

That being said, I have seriously considered buying the TPB of the first series of GI Joe / TF b/c I love love love the WWII themed artwork.

I have that it's cool.

I was holding off buying it because DW was going to release it in black and white, which I thought would be even cooler, but when they went belly up I picked up the original.

here is My opinion (which all of us have a right to give BTW)

the biggest thing wrong with this series off the bat is the main humans names- they are knowhere close to real- ad i know not many people name their kids kicker, spike, sparkplug.. but that girls name-Verity Carlo? WTF! where do they get these names from? AND Hunter O'Nion? that sucks!

but other than that, ill give the story a chance. ill be willing to see where this is going-minus the character names, or wheelie guesstars as Assface.

i agree with Headmaster. why cant humans have, y'know names that wouldnt normally be associated with household appliances

You speak the truth. Just once I'd like to see "Doug" or "Bob" or "Kathy", ya know?

Might I also say that there is such a thing as telling a story. It seems like all you guys want is a TF version of Playboy.

What does what we were saying have anything to do with wanting a TF Playboy? Just because I prefer anime-style human art don't mean I'm any more attracted to the characters than I am with the TFs. Art is just as important as the story.

And let me give you a clue about something: They're  JUST DRAWINGS. It's unbelivable  to think that because there's better human art that there's perversion involved. Is that why american art for humans is like that? Because you think you're being perverse if you draw humans better? You ppl need to get a clue.

I dont have a problem with the art. It's better than I can draw. It does seem stiff next to DW's though.

Own almost all of the US TF comics and all of the UK Trade Paperbacks.

The G1 Marvel comics were very good and the artwork was pretty decent though later it got worse for awhile (Jose Delbo was losing his touch.)

The UK comics had excellent stores though I did feel that the art was rather poor, especially in some of the earlier issues. But story is more important than art though the latter matters as well, especially to kids.

The DW comics did everything very well though the humans were often a bit oddly drawn. That I liked about the old TF comics, humans were drawn better.

Still this preview looks ok.

I am guessing they cannot use regular names because of legal issues. I remember the Simpsons episode where Homer sues the makes of a show called "Police Cops" for using his name. :tftongue

Still, it is hard to judge from only those few pages so I am just going to wait and see, I am betting it is far more likable than the tv shows of late.

And finally, I think kids do read comics but their parents would buy those for them. I mean if I had a kid, I would buy comics of the shows he liked (or Calvin and Hobbes) to get him to read.

I have seen parents do that at least 3 times in the stores I visit occasionally. You may not be able to get them to read "War and Peace" but this is at least a start.  :thumb
