Transformers at school!?!

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

A funny thing happened at school today.  I teach 5th grade in a rural school in Southwest Missouri.  Last week we started school, and one of the things I do to get the kids acquainted with me is bring some things that represent my hobbies.  So along with my Game Boy, Harry Potter book, 3 or 4 comics, and a rubber Godzilla, I brought a Universe G1 Spychanger Optimus Prime.  The kids really get a kick out of seeing this stuff, but the Transformer was a real hit.  They especially liked it when I told them TFs came out when I myself was in 5th grade.

Anyway, each day I send home a small suitcase with a student, and that kid brings in up to 5 items from home that show his or her interests, just as I did on the first day.  Yesterday, one particularly unruly boy who has a bad reputation (we'll call him Bob) took the suitcase home.  Today he shared his stuff, which included an arrowhead he claims he found in a creek, a Civil War era cannonball (so he says) and a teddy bear.  Last of all Bob pulls out...

A decent condition original Predacon, Tantrum!

I asked him where he found such a cool toy, and he said he "found it in an old abandoned house", along with some other TFs.  And Bob said he wanted ME to keep it!  I told him I'd keep it on my desk for a while to enjoy here and we'd talk about it later.

So who thinks I am in posession of stolen property? :)

Thought you'd all be interested in this story!

maybe ya'll should give o'bobo a chance, he might not be bad just missed understood.....on the other hand he might be the  :demon child from 7734 who  :stone  or  :slap  some younger kids around for their  :tfevil  :tflaugh  :tfgrin  :tflaugh1  :tftongue , of course whose to know if they're actually stolen base case scenrio is to confiscated them and  :tard til he tells you the truth, or just send him back home with them, if his rep is as bad as it is no one going to say anything either way

keep them anyway!

oh, dang, that's a toughy. First off, wish i would of had a teacher like you, lol, i like your style. Second, the abandoned house thing doesn't fly with me. He might have taken them froma friend that moved, or they could have been gifts or he might realy have found them. No way to realy tell. In cases like this it's near impossible to tell, so use your best judgement and do what you feel is right. (i'd have to take it, g1 predicon.....c'mon!)

Dude, if he says he found it in an abandoned house, then the figure is therefore abandoned, as are the others he said he saw, and therefore up for grabs for whomever.

Keep it.  You know what he told you I hope you have witnesses to what he said.

Did he give you the exact location of said house?  :schin I may have to pay a visit. Better yet, give me the kids address. :eplus

kill da kid, find his stash

You should send him back to the wharehouse and promise him $2 for every good find he makes.  This could really begin a new chapter in your collector career.  I'm excited for you!

In all honesty, my first assumption wouldn't be that it was stolen.  He's lying about how he got it, but it sounds like you might just have a pathological liar on your hands- or at least a kid going through a phase of it.  It's not too uncommon.

:pfx I would of course be suspicious, but if the kid wants you to have it and no one has said anything in the next few weeks, then why not, keep it.
