Rodimus Prime

What's up with all this "Optimus was too perfect" crap?

Prime made mistakes.  Hell, two off the top of my head are in "The Ultimate Doom" when he almost destroyed the Earth by bringing Cybertron into its orbit, and when he risked his life and the overall mission of the Autobots by returning to Cybertron to rescue his old flame Elita-1.

Optimus just didn't sulk over his mistakes and crap like Rodimus did.

Fun fact: Hasbro was originally NOT going to kill Optimus Prime in TF:TM, but decided to because they had done the same thing with Duke in the GI Joe movie (even though they ended up editing that to look like he hadn't died). They thought it'd be more EXTREEEEEEM or something.

And BTW let's not think that Hasbro intentionally decided to make Rodimus a lousy character. The problem was simply that he *was* one and they were like "crap we'd better bring back Optimus". The only episodes that bear the marks of Hasbro's change of mind are the edited Dark Awakening and (obviously) TRoOP.

However, in TFTM, the final line is "And the greatest leader of them all, Optimus Prime, will return!"  So they always intended to bring back Optimus.

:tflaugh You must have seen the movie on DVD. That wasn't in the original release.

It's on the VHS release, I have it and the DVD Collectors edition.  It's only on the VHS (the ONLY reason why I'm keeping it).

On another note, G1 Rodimus Prime still continues to suck ass BUT I did like E. Rodimus which was a far better character and a far far better toy.

UM took the leadership by the balls, granted he wasn't jumping up and down with joy when Optimus Prime died.  He saved his troops (who would've been killed by Galvy and gang) and tried to take them all on at once, he failed but gave it his all with out questioning himself.

Rodimus Prime just flat out sucks on Optimus Prime dirty oil changes hoping for inspiration.

you know i did get the whole hotrod vibe in cheetor for bw/bm. he even became leader at the end, the whole glowing eyes saying something like i know what i must do, almost stole black from silverbolt too  :thumb , guess he wasn't trying to pass up the arcee springer thing again  :tftongue  and he's def hotshot, down to a T shot, his whole attitude especially seeing him on the speed planet is exactly how his predecessor would react, sad part is lets say that he gets the matrix at the end of this, this is the end of the series so there'd be no development for him leading, but he's come along way from his youthfullness in aramada

After watching Cybertron up to this point, I disagree.  If Cybertron had not happened yet and we were still left with Energon, I would agree.

E.Hotshot seemed more wise and mature, helping Ironhide to develope and so on, but in Cybertron he seems to have taken a couple of steps back.  I know he's supposed to mighty morph into a power ranger later in the show, but for now he looks younger and more brash.

I have this feeling.. and I'm gonna call it.  I don't think the Matrix gets past at all, I think we'll all be left Starscreaming at the end, like Energon.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but that's what I'm calling.
