Cybertron Red Alert

Recommended Posts

I just got the Cybertron version of Red alert, and I was wondering....does anyone else have trouble with the legs not locking into place properly?

I have the Takara version as well and the legs lock together fine.

It doesn't affect the look too much, but it just makes him feel not as solid as he should be.

Is this just a random defect or is this widespread on all Cybertron R.A.'s?

I have a takara version and one of the sub sections of the legs actually comes off.  They lock together just fine, but if I move it just slightly it comes off the post when transforming.

No probs with mine.

Whatever you do, don't put clear nail polish on it!!!!  It only makes it worse.  The same thing happened to mine, the exact same version too, and I decided to apply some clear nail polish, thinking it would tighten it up.  No, it made it worse.

Well, I figured out why Red's legs weren't locking together right. It seems that the Hasbro version has a tab on the inner leg that Takara's doesn't. It keeps the rear wheel from setting into place properly which in turn keeps the leg from locking together correctly.

To fix this I removed the parts that make the front end of his legs (they just pop off, but be very careful!) I then unscrewed and removed the inner leg section, then I used a razor/box cutter/exacto knife and sliced off the obstructive tab and now the legs lock together just like they were intended to. :clap

Cool. If I ever buy that guy I have to do that

He's really a very nice figure, and I prefer the Cybertron version over the GF version.

And this little fix is WAY easy to do. Just get a good blade and it should cut fairly easily through the plastic.

The Cybertron version actually has more paint, and thus is more show-accurate to boot.  The GF version is missing the gold panels on his shoulders, which are present on both the show model and the Cybertron fig.

Yep. And I prefer the darker shade of blue.

Odd.  I wonder if that is a problem with the mold, or there was just a batch where there was some plastic leaked between the halves of the mold.
