I just bought Red alert myself, and sure enough the tab is there. I find if you press the halfs together tightly they should click into place and remain locked in position. The only thing though is the upper legs will be slightly misalinged but otherwise he looks fine and unless you're really picky needs little or no adjustment. :thumb

 

Also spiderbot mode is freaky cool. :tflaugh

Hey!  Got my Red alert today and noticed his legs had the same problem.  I whipped out a screwdriver and some wire cutters to snap those tabs right off (screw X-acto knives) and now he's good as new.  Thanks a lot!  Easiest mod ever.

It didn't bother me too much at first but I may eventially do the same thing with mine.

 

The only thing I don't like about modding him is having to alter the toy in anyway. Especially if I decide to sell these somewhere down the road. :tdown

My tabs stick out just as far as the pic, but mine's left leg has no problems, but the right one won't stay together and the problem seems to stem from something other than that tab.

  Might be a molding issue with one of the RA molds.  I got mine at a target and my sons at ToysRUs, and neither have the problem.

  Only problem I have with him is he is so dang short in robot mode.

Got mine from Target too, and doesn't have that extra piece either. I just wish I'd known about the nail polish sooner. I got tired of looking at the white mirrors, took some silver mirror nail enamel and put on there. Accidently got a bit on top of the mirror, wiped it off and took a bit of the white paint with it.

 

Oh well, still a neat figure. :D
