i hated the armada kids with a passion. all i could see was their involvment in EVERY episode!. I think spike was ok, although he was the one who alway got kidnapped by the cons and he was never harmed for some reason. Ravage just couldnt have taken an arm or two just for laughs from us.

Humans wouldn't be that bad, as long as they're adults. It makes sense for Autobots to have government allies and contacts, so that wouldn't be bad. 'Cons working with shadowy government elements, perhaps Generic Evil Organisation, would be nice... TBH, I'm suprised the 'Cons never worked with the Soviet Union against the Autobots and the West. They had a lot of fuel, and I daresay were willing to work with the 'Cons provided the 'Cons coated their claims with enough bull.

Kids just don't make sense to me. At all.

Were you ever one?

I was a kid once and I never cared about the human characters back then.  As I watch G1 shows now though, I am glad that the human characters served some purpose.  The last good human character was Koji in RID.  The Autobots were helping to find his father and he knew enough to stay at the Autobot HQ.

I think that's what all of this comes from. We're making pronouncements on what should and shouldn't be in the show based on our personal preferences.

So experience means nothing to you?  Does your arm have to burn completely before you realize that it's bad for you?

I'm just saying that MAYBE our own personal experiences are.................. subjective?

Well, that's why this is not a simple yes or no question.  It all depends on what kind of human characters are used and how they are used.  I have no problem with human characters as long as they don't distract from the Transformers.  That is the title of the show, not, "The Transformers and the Super-Kids."

Of course there are those who say that humans are needed for kids to identify themselves with. (Or something like that.) I say that is typical human arrogance, thinking that humans are so important that they have to be in the show.

if the audience thinks they should be there, for arrogance or any other reason, they should be.  Give the people what they want.

Kicker was neither. He was a forced on character who did nothing but whine and shout out orders, did not follow someone else's orders and extremely annoying.

He was supposed to be annoying like that... even the other human characters could hardly stand him. The Autobots ignored him unless he actually had something important to say or they needed to use him as their Energon Starscream.

Even his toy sucked as it broke right of the packaging. (Realistic though because that is how long he should have lasted in the cartoon.) Even Wheelie is a better toy.

What exactly happened on the show that you think would've broke Kicker?

"arrogance"? :tfhuh yeah my kids are so arrogant that they want to see characters they can identify with :roll Jeebus.

The actual title of Energon was Kicker and his Transformer lackeys. They changed it to Energon to attract more viewers and it was a shorter title.

I know I should have been more precise. My mistake. I should have added a middle option but lately there has not been a middle option in the cartoons. The Armada and Energon humans were annoying.

For myself - and being a G1 fan - i like the idea of Robots in Disguise - which means: a fair amount of realistic alt modes interacting with humans... ON EARTH

And expansion of this idea i suppose is - Robots in Disguise on MARS or whatever... What do TFs scan and integrate when they go to OTHER planets or are all planets only EARTH and Cybertron?

Hunter

:pfx  so much it’s not even funny. Enough with the Buzz Light-year space odysseys.

That's the thing... we're judging this based on some cheap TV anime. The kids are annoying in these shows because the shows themselves are annoying. If the show were higher quality, kids wouldn't be an issue IMO.

Energon was not cheap. My eyes and ears are still recovering from having to endure that. The recovery comes with high bills so Energon cost me quite a bundle.

Plus the shrink as the show gave me nightmares.  :tflaugh

And G1 was not exactly high budget either so low budget does not mean nothing.
