And the coolest BM Primal was not even released in Beast Machines.

Because of this thread, I'm sooo ashamed to be a G1 fan...

and when bm came along how many primal and cheetor toys were there  :tdown

Cheetor- 3, all different molds at different pricepoints

Optimus- 3, ''            ''

Even with a smaller cast, you can still generate interest if you have toys that aren't straight repaints.  Also see the Vangard team from GF.

Here Here for DS9  I Agree whole heartedly at what you said.  G1 was right for its time.  The Problem with these other shows is the same problem that network telivision as well as any franchise has with the consumer.  They tend to forget that we grow up and that we began to think about how possible things are.  They tend to forget the loyal fan base and try to market things to the younger generation, not know that we would be interested in watching something from our childhood as well.  That if a movie or remake is made of something we saw as a kid we won't flock to see what has changed and what has stayed the same.  In a way reliving our childhood.  I hate to see something that I loved for so many years get turned into garbage.

I hated the fact that they put the G1 seasons on dvd and didn't remaster the sound till the 3 installation.  I would have loved to hear the old eps in surround sound or THX.

Even with Takara and his Alternator line I was upset with how he made a cheap version as well as the metal versions.  As a collector I was cool with that until he started repeating the line and making different characters with the same mold i was appalled at Ultra Magnus and spitted on his name for giving me a white Optimus Prime,  knowing we all wanted the armored commander.

In closing until these writers and owners realize that the target audience is not an 80's 13 year old but instead of a 05's 13 year old they still will be pushing this lollipop bullcrap that we've been getting on a yearly basis.

"If Transformers came back with a GOOD show..., ...what would it be like?"

Beast Wars.

i think we all are in unison here that beast wars was a good show. I think i actually enjoyed watching it. But, uh-oh! Mainframe came out with the show Reboot! twas awful

Well, what DS9 fan said, about the characters and their personalities...a lot of that's been lost, to me. One big reason I collect Alts/BTs is because I want the characters who meant something to me (such as Hound and Wheeljack). A lot of them are characters I loved and idolized growing up, and since I have no interest in the Cybertron line save the upcoming Primus and Soundwave figures, I'll just keep collecting the 1/24 line for now. Until the movie line, anyway...

I don't get all the hate on G1, myself. In fact, it's almost a compliment to the original shows that the new ones try to match it and be like it, IMO. They're trying to recapture the magic and the (pardon the pun) spark of the original series. But I really think that if a show was written by competent American writers and animated by a good animation studio (for some reason, I'd nominate Gainax, the animators of Evangelion...for anyone who's seen the show they do INCREDIBLE mecha animation), then not only would fanboys be happy, so would the kiddies.

And the humans should be an after-thought instead of being the basis of the plot in a show where the title characters are oversized metallic titans.

I don't think it's a compliment to the original shows that the new ones are so derivative. I think it's just creative laziness and an unwillingness to take risks, coupled with the fans' bitching about anything different. (Let's not forget that it took the fans a long time to stop saying that BW was an abomination.)

Hasbro might get up the courage to try something new if the movie is a success. But that is the only way I see anything changing.

It's all because of RID being our first taste of a TF anime.

Although I asked ES to get me some VCDs of RID... :redface
