If Transformers came back with a GOOD show...

Recommended Posts

That is the key. Transformers has so much going for it that one does not need gimmicks.

All one needs is a good tv show with excellent stories and characterizations to back this up. Such as Beast Wars, which was better than G1. But again that is cool just because of the nostalgia.

But I think it is clear that we need Mainframe and a good team of writers for that to happen. I propose Simon Furman but as a comic fan that is expected.  :tflaugh

Furman's overrated, and too obsessed with his own mythos. he's good, don't get me wrong. I've read like 20 issues of his stuff, and liked them all, but he's not the God of Transformers as he's often made out to be. his attempt tp tie in G2 and BW is proof of his obsession with his own stuff.

again, i like the dude, just think he needs to get away from all things G1. if he ever gets a job writing a TF cartoon, I hope it's an entirely new universe with no G1 ties.

I think inorder for Transformers to be "a good show", it would have to be on two fronts:

1) a kids' tv cartoon

2) an adult series.

I say this because when we were kids was one thing, but now that we're adults, we have the expectations of adults who grew up with cutting edge special effects and intricate storylines, as well as the memories of the awesome characters and settings of G1. I might be wrong on this, but maybe the flaw is trying to please two different audiences with one show.

Two different series would allow one to cater to kids, and the other to have the gritty, dramatic storylines and plotlines we have come to expect of modern series.

True, excellent observations there.

But at least he knows how to write an interesting story and I am betting that if we give him the chance to completely restart the Transformers mythos (lacking any tie to G1 whatsoever) that he will come up with something entirely refreshing.

I think a show can appeal to kids and adults alike. Everyone liked Beast Wars. It just has to be written very well without getting too complicated.

And a good show can both be gritty and humorous. Deep Space Nine is the "darker" Star Trek series but has a lot of episodes that make the show look like a sitcom.  :tflaugh

Ps- I also think it should have a small cast. That way one can focus on the characters. Not all the toys should have to be in the show.

Agreed. I think the rush to include all the characters can be confusing.

What do you mean Tarantulas' powerup was a repaint. The TM Turantulas was a completely new mold. The re-color of Turantulas was the first Blackarachnia toy.

It's Primeval Dawn #1, a Botcon comic.

How about we get the writers from Justice League Unlimited to write the next TF show? Then everyone will be happy (I know this won't happen but it would be awesome).

Here`s what the script would be like. Add all of G1 to the begining of this story and this is what it would be like. Linky Transformers Generations

yes but it a well known fact that characters not in  the show don't sell as well as character in the show, and then you start to get a bunch of repaints of the show characters or 4 or 5 different versions of the same character just because

I guess complaining is what we humans do.  :tflaugh

Perhaps but the less characters in the show, the more writers can do with them. The characters in Beast Wars were excellent because of this.
