Hasbro Improvements

Recommended Posts

Hasbros Alts are the win. Seriously, I've not had a problem with any of them, compared to my couple of BT's who all ('cept Swindle) have loose joints and generally have trouble with joints.

The cheaper prices, in addition with the comparable production quality and easier acquisition means, in all lines, I am very much a fan of Hasbro.

It's odd how the only consistent justification I hear for Hasbro as opposed to Takara is "it's cheaper and it's almost as good". That doesn't really sell me on their product.

I think my QC opinion on alts and BTs has been consistant :P

I meant consistent in terms of multiple people saying the same thing............

I also haven't had any bad experiences with BTs.

This is such a crappy analogy but it's the best I can do on such short notice.

Take Chevy and Cadillac--both are under the same ownership (GM), both share platforms and both have quality products. But most people, when given the choice, would take a Cadillac Escalade EXT over a Chevy Avalanche despite the fact that they're the same vehicle. The Caddy badge just adds more "prestige" to the vehicle, and along with that comes the luxury stuff--leather, better sound system, the fact that you're driving a freakin' Caddy--that is so coveted. Yet the Avalanche is very capable, sometimes moreso, than the Escalade EXT. Hell, it costs less and may be a bit rougher around the edges, but it's still a very high-quality product in the end.

And yes, I did pick the ugliest truck on the planet for a reason--slapping that Caddy badge on and giving it leather instantly makes people want it, no matter how bulky that sucker is.

I think of it this way

I can get three Alenators for the price of 1 Binaltech...

Three good quality altenators...granted the metal is harder than the plastic howver metal does have it's shortcomings

painted metal tends to chip over time...not to mention if it falls and breaks you can't exactly glue it...

Also I'd like to mention that CR Buildking is loose as hell and can't stand up good when compared to both of my RID Landfills(original and Walmart exclusive)

However CR Valdigus and my two RID Ruinations(Original and Walmart Urban Camo) are pretty much the same in quality and construction, but they are just painted differently...

Yes Takara's have more show accurate features and may feature more expensive materials, but it's not really worth it usualy to go out of your way to spend the extra cash...Takara also has competition from other mecha lines, where as the states really have no mecha competition aside from power Rangers...

I mean by saving 10 bucks on even 1 transformer by buying the Hasbro version you can get another Transformer with that 10 bucks you saved...

it's more or less a case-by-case baisis for both companies when deciding on what figure to purchase...

True, but to some, price is not an issue.  Please abserve the collections board where you see pics of people owning 3 of each BT for example.  You know who you are, those that get the GFs from BBTS even though the prices on there are inflated.

The only Takara stuff I get are reissues and BTs and the other stuff is hasbro.

BUT, if I could afford it, I would get all Takara stuff.

Price is always a issue if you have a large collection

I collect multiple series of mecha, funds that can be saved are usualy allocated to different series, the most expensive series are the ones that are all model kits or feature a large assortment of diecast parts.

Truthfully no matter how much the Takara BT's differ from the altentators they just arn't worth the 50-70 bucks, the cheaper alternative in this case is an actual alternative. Alenators and BT's look identical and each have their own strengths and weaknesses. The Hasbro versions use a strong plastic and tight joints and are certainly not "cheap quality" by any standards. The Takara versions are prone to paint chipping, loose joints, and can't be easily fixed. The Hasbro versions are just plastic and no metal, they just appear less glossy. Now granted you can break the plastic, you can also break metal as well, it's just that the metal has a higher breaking point than plastic...

You can also return Altenators more easily than Binaltechs...

whoa whoa whoa......

Alts and BTs do *not* look identical at all. There's just no way you can say that, unless you're legally blind. Painted metal does not look the same as molded plastic. It just doesn't. I can tell the difference between my Alts and BTs a mile away. And all this stuff about loose joints..... that might have been your experience, but it hasn't been mine. All of my BTs have been of the highest quality.

And as an adult collector, I don't consider "breakability" as a factor when making purchases. I don't take my BTs out into the back yard and play "Indy 500" or anything.

The fact of the matter is that BTs are higher quality, period. You may not want to spend the money on them, and that's totally fine. But the Alts are still cheaper versions.

I seriously doubt you can even see them a mile away :P

They are pretty much both the same quality

It's just that one is plastic and one is metal...

having metal doesn't nessiceraly mean a higher quality product...
