My Next Kitbash...Armada Red Alert

Recommended Posts

I just tested the hand attachments from Armada Red alert...and miraculously, they fit without modification.

I took some pics to show the progress so far.

As far as the Wheeljack body, I have removed all of the blue striping.

I will be painting the wheel overhangs and the front and rear bumper in graphite Krylon Fusion (which I just ordered)

I have finished the upper legs, and arms, and have placed an Autobot symbol on the middle of the hood.

I just started painting the front/rear windshield and arm cannon in transparent red. How long does Testors enamel paint take to dry...I just wanted to take this pic...and it was still sticky after a day of drying. (of course it needs more coats...

I have also ordered another Armada Red alert for the extra arm attachments and head. (So I don't ruin my original)

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile...I'm still waiting for parts/paint to arrive.

As of Thursday I had the following complete:

  - Hand attachment (Shockwave's gun) finished and painted transparent red.

  - Front and Rear windshield painted transparent red...ended up darker than I would've liked...

  - My order for Kryon Fusions "Nickel Shimmer" paint arrived.  It is not graphite...the closest thing I can compare it to is a nickel.  Lobo used it on his Alternators Megatron/Hummer.  I ordered it from Ace Hardware online, and also found it at Michaels.

  - I made a grievous error when I painted the rims with gold Testor's enamel paint.  The paint didn't look smooth, so I tried to remove it, and it went everywhere all of the forearms..I am currently in the process of removing the blue/with gold specs pint so I can repaint the forearms.

  - I am also considering not painting the forearms blue like in the pictures I posted, put to do just the shoulders and biceps in blue, and paint the forearms with Nickel Shimmer.

  - I ordered a large piece of red vinyl which I will make the stripes on the side of the doors out of.

  - I have a Micron Legend Red alert on its way (for parts)  I am going to use the head, and possibly the long light bar, the minicon sickbed, and the hand attachements.  I will also be using the Longarm minicon.

Here is a pic of the mustang without the stripes, and with the extremely dark windshield:

Here is a very quick and dirty photoshop of my plan...

I have created the Red alert logo in Adobe Allustrator...and am waiting on ReproLabels response on whether or not they will print it out for me.

I am going to paint over the rear side windows in white.

The fender flares are going to get the nickel shimmer treatment, and a red stripe will run from the front side fender, to the rear side.

The way I thought of doing the repair bay would involve turning the piece of the waist around that has the "ass-flap" attached.

What better way to make use of something that doesn't get used? (Hell this would even work for Wheeljack if someone wanted to give it a go...it makes sense for him to have a repair bay too...)

I took a pic of Alternator Wheeljack with Minicon Longarm and the Repair-Bay Visor to demonstrate what I am working towards...

Of course I don't know if I could actually pull this off...but I really want to try..

u can still see a spec of blue stripe on the front of the stang (in those last pics), but it's coming along just prime! keep it up!

Alright, so originally I was going to go with the all blue arms...but then I found a wallpaper image where his forearms were a gunmetal color.

I have opted to try out the gunmetal color on one of the forearms...I think I like it better.

I have also figured out a way to mount the Red alert head on the Wheeljack ball joint by using a small rubber grommet.  It recquired no modification, and allows for a full range of motion!

Let me know what you guys think...
