New TF movie - maybe not going to be "original"?

Recommended Posts

I think they WANTED TFs to be taken seriously with this movie.

Yeah...that's about as likely to happen as X-Bob is to use US names :redface

All this gloom and doom is annoying and ignorant. As if Spielberg or anyone else with half a brain would sink $$$ into a movie and then try to make it suck.

Let's step back for a moment.

Despite what you might think from frequenting this site, most people neither know nor care about Transformers. Why? Because it was a kids' cartoon in the 80's that lasted for three years before it fizzled out. The fact that the Transformers is being adapted into a live-action film AT ALL should make you jump for joy. Instead you whine and bitch about how it will suck and be terrible and nobody cares about the Transformers bla bla bla. Where do you get off having an attitude like that?

Everyone should just follow Hot Rod's advice and get over themselves. And then step outside for a while and breathe some fresh air.

It's almost expected that we'd be cynical over this.

Look at how other movies based on franchises turned out -- especially crap like Garfield, Inspector Gadget, Scooby Doo, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros...need I go on? It's almost expected that a movie that's taken from a hot or once-hot property will be disappointing.

I think that's why we're all doom and gloomy.

I'm happy that they're coming out with a movie. :thumb As I've said in previous posts, it's too early to tell, and we're going off on rumors and little info.

As for frequenting this site, yeah, mkost folks don't care about TF's. That much is true. But each to their own.

Clonus is a crappy B-Movie, that was already based on an older book. The concept isn't exactly original as such, anyway (I've heard it pop up a few times).

Frankly, I don't care if the film steals ideas from other places. I just want it to be bloody made.

It's almost expected that we'd be cynical over this.

I think you just prefer to be that way.

You are forgetting about Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman, Hulk, Superman, etc.

And dare I say -- take a look at the friggin' source material. How can you possibly screw up something that was never that great to begin with?

:pfx

Truth is, the original TF movie swapped stuff from basically every other popular sci-fi movie or series from the same era (mostly Star Wars/Star Trek, etc.)

As long as the new one doesn't BLATANTLY rip something off without giving the original credit, it'll be all good.

It's almost expected that we'd be cynical over this.

OK...the cynicism's expected from your corner, but you do realize most people on this board still worship G1. So they have high hopes.

Wow. and we're gloomy? I think you just hurt Optimus and Megatron's feeling:

Optimus:"He called our source material CRAPPY!!!" *sob!!

Megatron: "Yeah!" *sniff* "what a mean guy!!"

:D

I didn't think those comments bashed the Voice Actors; the guy all but said that they were good for what they did, but they weren't right for the TF movie. That's the way it is.

As to 'making TF a laughing stock'... all I can say is I didn't think the movie was even BEING made yet.
