After a run in with Ravage, Skids was heavily out guned and severely damaged in L.A. His armor was perferated, and he looked like he was used in a car bomb. Skids fell into statsis lock, but was able to make it into vehicle mode first. He was found by a young teen slacker and rolled into his driveway. Skids could barely get the poor boy to comunity college and back, with no working air conditioner the boy had to keep all the windows down and drive with his head out the window. Finally his peers took pity on him, and video taped it all, then sent it to MTV. Xibit hauled Skids to West Coast Custums and they repaired him. Not only did they repair his inner workings (who knew they had it in them?) but also fixed his damaged shell. Skids awoke from stasis to not only find a blazin' flame line down his side, but now his interior had a cooler in the dash board, mini disco in his passenger seats, and a fully loaded xbox in the trunk and a selection of games and the latest Xibit album. When he tried to thank the boys at WCC, Xixbit stopped him in mid sentence and just grabbed a phantom color and said "Skidz, you've been pimped."

 

(actually I LIKE this design on him, though the chest is a lil big and blocky)

Any chance the whole car exterior is painted? He looks way too shiny in those pics.

Looks like you guys were right about alternator Skids' head after all. I saw another picture on another site of Skids head and it looked quite different from the one posted here. But it is obvious from the Ironhide cartoon pic that I am incorrect. Anyway, I guess I'll have to buy alternator Skids and ask for his forgiveness, although I still have beef with the Swindle/Trailbreaker and Deadend/Sunstreaker screw-up. Also, since Takara has now turned Red-alert into a police car with the Smokescreen/Silverstreak mold, why did they not originally do so with Prowl and reserve the current Prowl mold for a completely different Wheeljack body? That would have made a little more sense than having WheelJack and Grimlock share the same mold.

The helmet maybe different but look at the pic again. He looks just like a blue Ironhide too me. Espeacially in this pic. I know they take liberties, like Sideswipe antenea are different but this guy looks too much like Ironhide. I never realised how much TF's look like.

My $0.02:  I'm not a fan of the flames.  A simple thin stripe accross the side would have been better.

 

And this head is no more Ironhide than any other head in the Alt. line, and a repaint will be getting a new head sculpt anyway, so it's a moot point.  Get over it, please.  :thumb

While it's quite true that the head and body are clearly designed for Skids, I will admit I'm not confident Takara will ever produce Ironhide and pick a mold better than this one (that's not saying a whole lot about the Scion, but still...).

 

But also considering how many liberties the BT head sculpts take, one could also say:

teh pure horror why go ruin it just give it blue with red stripes no flames

All they have to do is paint him red & retool the helmet a little & label the box Ironhide

Well, looks like this is the second time we've been cheated out of an Ironhide reference in favor of Skids.  Does anyone else remember a certain Energon figure that was so clearly Ironhide, right down to the weapons platform?  Yeah, I'm still waiting for my red repaint on that one, too.

Perhaps we'll have to wait and see what the remold comes up with.  Don't know how much they can change on the Scion, but I don't recall any Decepticons that would fit, so there might be a chance it'd end up as Ironhide.  And considering how much the current head can pass off for him, I would wager they'd make the remold's head look even more like Ironhide.

 

Bah, I just wish they'd go ahead and say right now whether or not they plan on releasing Ironhide in '06 (as either a new mold or a Scion remold, but we'll find out the later sooner than the former), like they name-dropped Mirage.
