total film article on tf movie

I have no problem with a reinterpretation, I'm just curious how a 15 foot tall robot is going to inconspicuously walk onto a car lot, transform into a car, and be sold with nobody figuring out that it didn't come from the factory.  And, if it's a used car lot, that adds in yet another WTF factor.  A TF will turn into a beat up looking ten to fifteen year old car that a 17 year old could afford to buy?

I don't mind the family movie angle at all, what I mind is a totally implausible plot hole being the ENTIRE FOCUS of the plot.  (Assuming of course that we are accepting the TFs themselves as "plausible", so STFU on that point KTHX. :wave )  Or at least the "human angle" of it.

I think you're analyzing this a bit too much. All you have to go on is essentially a movie pitch. You have no plot, no backstory, etc. And it's not like it would be so hard to explain how a Transformer could find its way onto a used car lot. (BTW it has been mentioned by DM that not every Autobot will necessarily turn into the latest models out there -- they especially seem to like the idea of Bumblebee as a classic VW Beetle, for example.)

Anyway, when you get right down to it, who cares how the car gets there? I can't see that that would really affect the story all that much.

They've Turned Transformers into Turbo Teen!

with bits and pieces of ET and the stupid parts of War of The Worlds!

I sort of wonder if this has more to do licensing issues, I imagine that the old Beetle is more than likely in the public domain.

Also, it makes better sense for "robots in disguise" to be older and more everyday models, and not a bunch of hyper-expensive sports cars that tend to draw a fair amount of attention.

You know what's going to mess this movie up? Us.

:eek. I remember that cartoon: worst. show. ever.

Jazz should be a new car.

We have met the enemy, and it is US.

*now THAT would be a cool movie: TFans: attack of the er...um...uh...clones?"*

*runs from lawsuit by George Lucas*

Sure, but something more like an RX-8 makes sense - not a Porsche that one would normally only see on a race track.
