Gee and I was hoping that it would be a retread of TF:TM, which FRIGGIN' DIED at the box office. I can already sense the fanboy angst building... just let it go. Do you want a successful film that will spawn lots of sequels? If the answer is "yes" then STFU and let the movie people do their jobs kthx :thumb

Like "Batman Begins," they need a restart of the genre, not a retread. Retell the origin, but with a fresh perspective.

I agree... but...

"it's going to be about a 17 year old boy who saves all his money to buy his first car and it turns out to be a transformer. That's how we're approaching the human angle. it's a family movie, a back to the future kinda thing"

That still makes me cringe.  :wtf

Actually that sounds VERY simmilar to the way the MARVEL comics introduced Buster and Sparkplug.....

if thats how it starts from the Boy's perspective and then builds into TFs - i say go for it.

Buster and BB were great in the first 6(?) comics....

Spike and BB were great in the cartoon

but whatever happens -

GIVE ME MY GAWD-DAMN BB/VW ALT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have lots of excitement and hope for this film

I have no problem with a reinterpretation, I'm just curious how a 15 foot tall robot is going to inconspicuously walk onto a car lot, transform into a car, and be sold with nobody figuring out that it didn't come from the factory.  And, if it's a used car lot, that adds in yet another WTF factor.  A TF will turn into a beat up looking ten to fifteen year old car that a 17 year old could afford to buy?

I don't mind the family movie angle at all, what I mind is a totally implausible plot hole being the ENTIRE FOCUS of the plot.  (Assuming of course that we are accepting the TFs themselves as "plausible", so STFU on that point KTHX. :wave )  Or at least the "human angle" of it.

That, I would like to see.

More plausible is the boy finding a mp3 player, and it turns out to be Soundwave on a recon mission. Soundwave then uses subliminal messages to manipulate the boy into getting him into areas he would not be able to access due to his size. (not a complete idea, but a basis that could be developed. Holes are inevitable.)

so it's a Herbie movie where Herbie has a robot form too?

I hope that introduction changes, because I completely agree with GZ.

bah, my idea was so much better:

the movie takes place in new york and it stars a boy named Brad Kicker and his father works for the Cybertron Robotics Corporation. the CR Corp is working on special human piloted military vehicles that can transform into humanoid mechs. the mechs have a limited AI that is controled by a central super computer called The Master Matrix. over time, some of the mechs develope human intellegence and go on a rampage. Brad Kicker's father is killed in the carnage so he steals one of the remaining mechs that is still under control of the master matrix and goes out to seek revenge.

actually hornet that sound lame and not like a tf movie at all, nearly smeghammer worthy lameness

sounds like a power rangers episode to me.

sounds like Terminator. I dont think hasbro wants their beloved figs killing everyone in sight. With only one good bot. The Auto bots always outnumber the cons.

I like the boy Idea. It's sort of like RiD too. The autobots there lived as normal vehicles. After the boy gets to know his car is a robot they can always give us a cool back story. Plus it would explain why Robots from another planet are speaking English. They spied on us and learned to adapt.
