EBAY CANCELS ALT IRONHIDE

Were these protos stolen, though?

The BF says if it was stolen, then they could nuke em, if it wasn't, then Hastak couldn't shut the auctions down?

Ah well, I highly doubt they'll stay away from collectors hands...

All protos has to be stolen to be obtained.  Hasbro doesn't give protos away.  They destroy them after their done with them.  I'm sure protos will continue to be sold one way or another.  Perhaps even on ebay in the future when things cool down a bit.  As long as they can be stolen, they will be sold.  I think once in a while Hasbro has to do something (crack down) just to show that their doing something.  I'm sure Hasbro knows for a while now their protos have been stolen and sold.  Why all of a sudden now?  Who knows.  Maybe Toyota saw all the complaints about how ugly the xB is and figured people thinks it ugly because it's still unpainted (the proto).  :tflaugh They don't realize that many people will think the car is ugly no matter how painted up it is going to be.

yeah, as I stated in another thread, all Alt Prototypes (maybe other prototypes too but I didn't search the others) have been removed.  Cannabis, how do you know it was removed by request of the copyright owner?  The ebay message doesn't say anything about that except that it was removed.

i got the same email as JAG...

the funny thing is that i had an urge to buy this particular proto and would've been the first alt proto i ever owned.(maybe its alt withdrawal???) i feel bad for proto collectors now because i feel like i had "hexed" the auction.

IMO, they should pop up on ebay again with witty titles like "transforming scion" or "iron alt hide" you get my point.

So is Hastak ending the line or just cracking down on stolen prototypes?

with the emails stating the words "intellectual property, copyrights, & trademarks" would it be safe to say that hastak unofficially confirmed the scion as being ironhide??

hmmmm............

That's a buzzkill for people who collected these, but since the practice was never really on the level to begin with, I'm not too upset about it.

:pfx

I never even tried to buy one, but I will miss seeing the pictures of them early.

I was a winning bidder too... :redface

Anyway, I believe this might fall in line with the idea of self-policing your trademarks... From what I understand, Hasbro MUST do thier own part to act against misuse of a trademark, or else they can lose the rights to the mark, and it becomes fair game.  (That's how trademark law works...)  I'm wondering if the same is true regarding intellectual property, and the sale of such?

If anyone is interested, I still have my contact that will sell.  Only problem is...he wants 150 plus shipping.  No way I'm paying that, but I can put you in touch with him if you are interested.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing too.  Every once in a while Hasbro has to do something (crack down) just to show that they did something to protect their trademark.  I don't think selling protos is infringing on trademarks but I'm sure it is infringing on intellectual properties as they don't want anyone stealing their ideas (making KO's) before they get a chance to release it.

Wait, you STILL want to buy it even though you have CONFIRMATION now that these things are stolen?
