The regular "Sunday Update" continues over at DM.net, where Don updates the fans on progress on the Transformers and other projects. Probably most noteworthy this week is the update on the status of the amended script - there could be a completed draft as early as this week.

Here are the highlights...

 

We got the first dvd from Jason Condit (hi Jason! Thanks for the Henning VHS!) with the other five likely to come this week….

 

On the TF front Dreamworks is working day and night to finalize the Comicon Plans…

 

Bay is almost at the finish line with the deal ….

 

The writers might finish the newest draft this week…

As regards specific questions, it was hard for Don to reveal too much. When asked if he could name the remaining, so far unnamed members of the cast, Don responded:

 

Yes when the draft is completed all will be revealed

Although he was able to reveal that Spike's age-range will be "young adult". So far no actors have been suggested for any of the roles, even in vague discussions, beyond Welker and Cullen. He was also asked whether the "Arcee situation" (ie. here being in it, instead of a more popular choice) had changed. His reply was:

 

It has not changed

because the battle has not been fought

like a good general

I am gathering my troops

forming allegiances

then... the storm

Looks like we may see some movement on the status of the movie by the weekend. I'll keep this thread updated for any developments.

I was so unfaithful when this whole movie business started, but every week I trust more and more that Don will have a real quality film for us in the end.

No problem. Hopefully they'll be something to report as to the status of the script shortly, and if it turns out to be the final, or near final version, I guss we can hope that Don will give us some teasers from it.

 

And yeah, I'm pretty positive about the way that it's going too. If you adjust your expectations to accept a Transformers movie, rather than a G1 movie EXACTLY like the cartoon, the thing looks a whole lot better.

Yes, despite the vast lack of faith in this movie by alot of the 'true fans' I think it will turn out to be fantastic. I grew up in the '80s. Megatron was my fav character trading places back and forth with Darth Vader, but I'm still confident this movie will be done right. Don is obviously doing everything he can to make a movie that will appeal to us as well as the rest of the movie going audience (which no matter what some people are saying is 100000x bigger group than us mere mortals)

I certainly hope it's not exactly like the cartoon. I'm still having a hard time reconciling "Transformers movie" with "not incredibly cheesy".

I'm worried about the Arcee situation. Although I can see the point of fans that Arcee ain't the most popular TF, I think she'd have a wider appeal beyond the fanbase, and if characters that don't have that appeal aren't included, the movie could tank no matter how faithful it is to the source. I appreciate that Don Murphy wants to please the fans, but I worry he may be losing sight of pleasing everyone.

ya know...with the amount of energy we put into keeping track of this movie...we'll be seing it no matter what the level of suckage lol.

I agree, I am not to keen on having a female TF in the first movie. Maybe down the road, but not in the first movie...unless she is the TF that dies (which in turn allows the overpowered Autobots to find new strength to defeat mighty Megatron and his Decepticions. :thumb).
