you know what did instill that sens of awe and G1 wonder   20th anniversary Prime

I still feel like an 8 year old when I pick it up

I agree, that toy alone is what got me back into buying transformers. I remember looking in a random magazine and there was optimus, chest wide, matrix glowing and I was like: "HOLY CRAP!"

I went down to chinatown the next day and was like

"Yo! This new Optimus Prime toy is coming out. Do you know anything about it?"

"I have 6 coming tomorrow, do you want one? It'll be about $160"

"HELLS YES DUMMY YOU!!"

And best of all...it wasn't just me, after my brothers saw it they each bought one, and so did one of my best friends. Masterpiece Prime brought back the Transformer fan in me. Then the alternators came and I am now a LOT poorer.

Same here too.  Saw 20th anni. Prime in magazine, now a over a year later I am collecting Alternators after twelve years of not collecting.

Yeah, I went from 14 years of no collection to 29+ different alternators and about 15 G1 reissues.

STUPID WALLET! BE MORE FULL!

I worshipped TF as a kid but I always thought the toys were amazing and lame at the same time. I liked changing them back and forth but when ever I tried to act out my little scenarios or act out what I saw on TV I would get pissed because I couldn't pose them like I wanted to. In fact all toys were lame by todays standards. If I would've had my 18 inch Spider-Man fig when I was a Kid, I would have never put that thing down. If BT/Alt were out I would have never stopped playing with toys at all.

I cant wait till they start making transformers that have stuff like, 16 points of articulation in each hand, actual necks instead of just ball joints and posable torsos.

I just hope my son is satisfied with my other TFs when he gets interested

I'd hate to be a grown man going "stay away from my alternators!"

:redface I do that already. I finally had to buy a glass case for them, my BTs and 20th Prime.

Yeah -- welcome to it, dude. :tflaugh

*laughs quietly to himself imagining Guld using Brawn-speak in the import toy store*

Nostalgia is very powerful.  I cannot help but look at my old G1 toys and remember all the time I spent playing with them.  They are about useless as far as displaying goes, they have been transformed so many times.  Some of them literally can't stand up anymore!  But I'd never every trade any single one of them away.  The fact that they were mine when I was 10 and are so obviously well loved makes them priceless to me.

Now to sound really sappy, I get all choked up when I watch my own two sons play with the SAME EXACT TOYS I played with when I was young.  Literally, I just stop and smile and get teary eyed! :tfsad That to me is why I love TFs so much, it is something I can share with my kids.  Except MP Optimus Prime that is... :P

Sir, how dare you say G1 sucked!!

:eek
