Why is poseability & articulation important?

Recommended Posts

seriously, what good is articulation unless it is alt/bt style that lets you display your tf in various different posses? and if all you care about is displaying your tf then what do you care about articulation?

Im sure this has the merrit to be a good topic.

But every bit of my soul looks at it and screams WTF???

seriously, i think some people are getting way too obsessive over articulation without asking themselves exactly why they want it.

So, your just baiting people into explaining their personal reason, rather than you yourself just simply can not see why.

If thats the case, some of my WTF goes away.

Articulation isn't all that important to me.  I grew up with G1 and I still play with my original G1 toys and their reissues more than any others (just look at my desk at work in the collection thread :tftongue), and yet my Armada, Energon, & RID toys are just sitting on display (minus Brave Max who is with the G1's).  Articulation is nice, but it's not all that important.  I seem to gripe more about the lack of articulation in "pre-posed" figures like any McFarlane line rather than TF's.  At least with TF's, even the bricks still have decent play value due wholly to the fact that they can transform.

Since I primarily display my TFs in robot mode, I like good articulation as the use of different poses makes them seem more alive and less like static statues.

that reason never made sense to me. if you're that concerned with posing the toys, then why don't you just buy the statues?

Statues are much more expensive than figures, and a well articulated figure can hold many poses.

unless they are bt/alt/mp, then those toys aren't really being designed with the need for decent posing in mind. and look, alt/bt/mp has articulation out the wazoo!

I could disagree about some Alt/Bt posibility.

The viper mold has limited leg motion, and the arms are hindered by the doors.  The jeep mold has limited arm posibility.  The Corvettes also have happered legs, although not as much.

And I disagree that main line figures aren't designed with posibilty in mind.  Look at the E. Gestalts.  They were clearly meant to be posed, because they sacrificed other elements to be posable.
