Konami Sells Off Takara Stock

Recommended Posts

Today in Japan, Konami has sold off all their Takara stocks for 11 Billion Yen.  In 2000 Konami, as a third party, undertook allocation of shares that Takara executed to support Takara that was in financial difficulty, and became the largest shareholder who owned about 20.1 million in stocks that hit 22.2% of the all issued stocks.  However, it is judged that the slumping business to which Takara is prolonged influences the achievement of Konami harmfully.  They launched out into the clearance of the stocks.

The image of rats jumping off a sinking ship comes to mind.... I seriously hope that's not the case.

Wow.  Wonder what that will mean for Takara?  I wonder if the stock would be taken over by another shareholder to bolster consumer confidence.  My Sony, I'm lookin' at you. :tftongue

Some Korean company will probably come in and rescue them.

Kinda strange that Komani didn't attempt to parlay Takara franchises (in particular Transformers) into card games.  Aren't they responsible for that whole Yu-Gi-Oh! mania?  But then I wonder how that brand would've translated to the US with Hasbro holding Transformers licenses.

Konami probably got advanced notice of the Wheelie/Kup reissue.

Not good news for Takara Tf Fans.

i blame hasbro for forcing takara to keep pushing tf's onto a japanese market that does not want anything to do with them. the japanese want their giant mecha to be piloted by 15-year-old bishounen. i bet if takara dumped the tf's and went back to diaclone, they'd do a lot beter.
