i agree also decepticharge got a good name (wild rider) in japan and a barrel. oh and prowl has a gun and baton (police brutality any one?)

As for copyrights...eh, I can live with those issues. I mean, there's worse names than "Autobot (insert G1 name that can't be used alone here)". I can still call them just plain Jazz, or Prowl, or Hound.

Honda USA and Honda Japan function as different business units.  This is pretty common with multinationals.

 

According to Nevermore, rumor has it that Honda Japan wasn't too pleased with Overdrive's barrel - it'll be intersesting to see if this is true and if BT Wildracer's weapon will retain its barrel.

 

EDIT:  Blitz, Prowl's weapon is supposed to be a "radar" gun, which will hopefully satisify Acura/Honda USA.

Why not just keep using engines as guns? Really, most of them don't look much like guns...they're actually less violent-looking than, say, a long-barreled gun. Or did Honda Starscream about that idea, too?

BT Overdrive is gorgeous...the paint apps on the die cast r0xX0rs.

First of all, they're MAKING a TF movie so STFU. You could be a MotU fan and be totally screwed...

 

Secondly, TFs since the beginning were all about transforming into realistic Earth things / vehicles / whatever, which are all produced by companies who happen to own copyright on their products. Takara simply ripped those designs off in the 1970's, as any good Asian toy company would. Now they have to pay for them. There's nothing evil about that.

 

Third, what do you eat for breakfast every morning, "Pessimism Crunch"? You're thinking WAAAAAAY too much about stuff that makes no sense and has little connection to reality.

 

Finally, as has already been said: they are toys. Enjoy them.
