New Don Murphy Q&A

Recommended Posts

The rehashing goes on a lot, yeah.

To be honest, though, while other boards discuss everything Transformers under the sun, all that the Murphyites have to discuss is the upcoming movie.

There's only so many subjects you can discuss. A lot of the time, if Don doesn't have any new news for a few weeks, the discussion goes round in circles.

Plenty of new news to discuss with the latest Q&A section, but out of it, most of it is good news that doesn't require much comment. A few things people aren't so keen on are gonna get discussed to death now.

You don't need a high post count to get attention, just something interesting to say. Sadly, as said, with so few subjects to discuss, very few people have anything new to add that hasn't been already debated to death.

So, if you were ignored, it wasn't personal, it was probably just that what you did post just wasn't new or different enough from the many posts that went before to provoke any comment.

Honestly, glancing at your posts on the various movie subjects here, your views are the same as thse expressed by countless others on dm.net. You're not gonna stand out from the crowd and if getting attention is your only intent when posting your honest opinions on things, you are gonna be disappointed.

I'd hate to see people come along and post controversial crap to get attention though, but it does happen.

I don't post there for recognition or attention, but just cos I like shooting the breeze with fellow fans. I supect it's the same reason most people post on these, and other, boards.

I'd rather have LESS attention. The pigeonholing me as a "geewuner" on a number of boards I can certainly do without.

I don't post there anymore because nothing is funny there.  It's like everyone has -infinity for a sense of humor.  I did post and tell Don I hope his wife gets better.  I wasn't going to read 65 damn pages of sh*t, so I don't know if he's said anything about her or not.

No news so far, no. Hopefully all is well. It sounds like overwork may be a contributing factor.

Well, I hope she gets better.  Movie be damned.  The health of your loved one(s) is far more important than some movie.

Agreed. I saw your post over there. I think Don was reading another thread at the time but I'm sure he'll get the message and he seems to appreciate the sentiments.

I never posted for attention over there, but even when I posted new threads they just  turned into spam-fests without any corelation to the topic. I understand that there is only so much you talk about the movie, but once something is debated to death, I would think it could be given a rest? Also, where did you get my opinions about the movie? Most of the posts I make about the movie just relay what was said about the movie on the DM boards.

Also, please note that my earlier post was refering to back in July, I haven't done much other than lurk since then.

Back on topic:

I like the idea of Arcee, she allows for the writters to have some room for their own characterization. Since she had so little in the cartoon and comics, I doubt many fans would complain about the changes. I just hope she's not pink for a change.  ;)

girls are pink and boys are blue. it's the way of things.

Don's always been very outspoken against moderation, so that's the reason you don't really see much. It's a free for all, certainly, but what you're saying is that the people who are sifting through all the crap are the ones representing the fandom.

That, in itself, is true. The suggestion that we're all "geewuners" who are presenting to Don a very clear, set idea of what the fandom wants and what it wants is 1985, isn't.

And thanks for saying I'm a spokesman for you guys, but, tough, I ain't gonna start posting YOUR views. I'm not looking for a full time job thanks. Do it yourself. ;)

Don't ask that of me, any more than I'm asking you to be my representive of the fandom on the toy boards here just cos you have a high post count. You are chatting about something that I have opinions on but can't really be bothered to get involved in. That doesn't make you the spokesman for my generation.

If you're expecting me to be representitive of anything but my own opinions than you're certainly gonna be disappointed. ;)

And to be fair, I'm pretty sure Don doesn't think I'm a representive of anything, he's savvy enough to know that no-one who posts there is speaking for anyone but themselves.

I have asked nothing of you, and don't really care if you parrot my/our ideas or not. The more varied opinions, the better. The free marketplace of ideas always wins out.

I'm not saying that you necessarily are a spokesman for us or not but in Don's eyes, you guys that have stuck around there are acting as spokesmen for the transformers fandom. You (all) must be. Otherwise what would be the point of him having the board or bothering to post or read on it?

Perhaps to foster cool INTERNET arguments like this one?

Decided to sign up to do just that. :thumb

Danmit I have no idea where to start sifting through this uh..........instead I believe my sig sums it up nicely for those who need to know. :bored

That's what I don't get. If what people think is being said already by people, then what's the problem?

We could give the subjects a rest, sure. Most of them are, and then someone new joins and it starts all over agan, or Don mentions something like siz shifting, like he did this time, and we're off again.

I think it's a kinda kookie idea to expect people to sit in silence though. I'm sure if I asked you to stop posting here, because it was clear what your thoughts were on stuff, you'd tell me where to go. ;)
