There's ALWAYS a chance a movie is going to suck.  Jusst like there's always a chance it will be teh awsumness.  Realistically, until a script is in place, any plot questions are pointless.  It's also way too early in the process to expect character designs or cast.

Million ways to go wrong.  Very few ways it will be awesome.

Probablity wise, it will suck.

Take the rumored Dragon Ball movie as an example.  What are the chances of making a really good live action DB movie??

There's a million ways to go right as well.

What I really don't get is the almost mindless pessimism displayed by a lot of people on the various boards.  This isn't directed at anyone specific by the way ...

But really, anytime any announcement is made about ANYTHING, be it the movie, a new Alt/BT, new GF/Cybertron figures ... whatever news comes out, the reaction is he same.  80% OMFG THAT SUXX , 10% Meh and 10% That's cool.

Call me nuts if you want, but that doesn't sound to me like people enjoying their hobby ....

If it doesn't have dinosaurs and panty jokes, it's not a Dragon Ball movie. :D

Logically speaking, it is much much much easier to make a bad movie than a good one.  In order to make a bonafide hit and an awesome movie, the majority of the audience must be pleased.  Once the audience deemed the movie as 'fair', their brain subjects the movie to the past movies they've seen.

For a movie to be awesome, it must exceed majority of the movies the audience have watched.  Probablity wise, the new movie will not fair well since people tend to recall the 'good movies'.

So going by the psychological process alone (I took a course in University), I can tell you that there is a bais to not liking the movie to begin with.

As for the TF movie, which includes CG robots with live action, based on a 20 yr old cartoon franchise, the target demographic (ie. not just for transfans, but for everyone else), past live action remakes of old television/cartoon shows, the chances of TF movie being good is really really slm.

The Don Murphy folks now directly invite all TF fans to post on the DM boards to show that we're not just a bunch of morons who just learned to type the word "Geewun".

Cos, y'know, we kept it a big secret before and instigated a vetting procedure for new members.  :wtf

And Wildling GETS IT.
