The Great Redesign

Recommended Posts

Okay. First things first, I suppose.

Hi, I am The Redesigner, resident n00b here.

Now that THAT's out of the way, I'll get straight to the point.

I'm pretty sure you've all seen the HORRIBLY unposeable modls the original G1/G2 characters ended up with, and some of the AWKWARD molds some poseable G2's ende up with(Basic Laser Rods, anyone?) I also assume you are sick and tired of only referring to them as bricks...

No more, if I can help it!

Over the next few weeks, I'll be posting up stuff here, detailing about possible redesigns(could or could not be useful). I'm not talking repaints. I'm talking POTENTIAL NEW MOLDS here. (hopeful banter from a Transfan? Yes...)

Now, the thing is.....I can't do this by myself. I already tried at another board, and my project DIED. I need help. Anyone who seeks to inquire, PM me. Anyone who wishes to laugh at me, PM me. Anyone who wishes to help out, PM me.

Thanks in advance. :thumb

[EDIT: If this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it to the CORRECT section...]

cant wait to see ur work!

...that's just the thing. I can only detail about these could-be molds through text... :tfsad

However, like I said before...I can't do it alone. I'll post up some of my stuff tomorrow.

Sounds Interesting...

Let's see what you come up with there.

And Welcome to the boards!

i know how you could pull off a decent god jinrai up grade with total possibility

omega prime could make for a decent update of him with blue bolts bashed up into a pair of lower arm mounted laser cannons to give the arms that winglet affect as well

the ladder assembly with a little tweak job to the tiny white ladder piece could serve as a shoulder mounted missile launcher rail cannon combination

the wings could be swapped out for a set of wings from cybertron prime or galaxy force convoy

the  missile pods could lock onto the lower legs as an upgrade of the missile launchers on god jinrais's lower legs

the gauntlet armor could lock onto ultra magnus's elbow stumps and they could wrap around the weapon ports behind omega prims shoulders to beef up his back pack.

the wheels on the shoulder armor could be bashed onto omega primes lower waist

this could work with some patients time epoxy glue and some extra parts

I commend you on your enthusiasm and determination in this project, Redesigner. Something of this caliber is definitely worth taking notice of! BTW, if you need any assistance, feel free to stop by the Idiot's Guide To Kitbashing (IGTKB). It's a TFans resource for kitbashers ranging from design all the way through to final detailing on pkitbashing projects. And while I'm at it, welcome to TFans and the Customs and Repaints forum. Good to have you here, and good luck on your project!

Getting started...my first victim...uh, I meant redesign is going..to..be.....Carnivac.

Name: Carnivac.

Alleigance: Decepticon.

Sub-Alleigance: MechaBeast.

Size: Basic.

Quote: None can stand before ME!

MechaBeast Mode: As the leader of the MechaBeasts, you'd think Carnivac has some impressive beast mode. Guess again....Carny's MechaWolf mode is a copy of his G1 form's beast mode....except for the colours. Carny's lame purple/brown/gold scheme is swaped for something a little more....raw. His main colour is gunmetal. Most of his MechaBeast mode's back, the top of its head and all four paws are this colour. The wolf's visor eye is red, and its fangs(yes, it has 'em) are silver. The rest of this beasty's legs are a dark bronze colour, as is the thing's underside. The tail is also silver, and looks like a sword. Carny has a Powerlink point on his back. To note is the hind legs. The lower legs are quite bulky, and have jet-like detailing, possibly to speed the little bugger up. There's clips on all four legs, designed to hold Force Keys.(like Fangwolf, for transporting..) Poseability amounts to: hinge jaw, ball-joint shoulders and hips, ball-joint elbows and knees and a swiveling tail, due to it being on a peg.

Transformation: Remove the sword/tail and stand the beast up on its hind legs. Flip the 'jet booster' part forward to become a foot, the wolf paw acting as something of a heel. Open up the wolf's chest, revealing the arms to be there, and put them in position, moving the beast's forelegs out of the way(and onto the back). Next, fold the beast head forweard to fill the gap, and thus reveal the robot mode head.

Robot mode:

Head: Carnivac's head looks very much like his original, G1 head....except bigger. He has a transperant green visor(same shade as Cruellock) and light-piping yellow eyes. The main helmet is the same gunmetal as the rest of his body, and his face is a bright copper. He bears a smirk on his face...head is ball-jointed.

Arms: Carny's arms aren't really much to talk about. There's detailing and stuff to make it look like the arms on a mechanized werewolf, a trend that continues to the other MechaBeasts. The insides of the panels he has on his arms show viewing screens. There's 5mm pegs in the fists, which can hold his talblade and a variety of other weapons. Poseability amounts to: ball-joint shoulders, ball-joint elbows, swivel wrists.

Upper body: MechaBeast Mode Head. Nothing more to say. Waist swivels, and the Powerlink point on his back is still useful.

Legs: MechaBeast mode's legs with larger feet for better stability. Pose-count: same as Beast Mode.

That's it for Part 1 of the MechaBeasts. 4 more parts coming up..but you can reply in the meantime. :)

[EDIT: Once again, I feel as if this is in the wrong section.....a direction to the RIGHT section, if wrong, would be appreciated.

Part 2 of the MechaBeasts.

Name: Snarler.

Alleigance: Decepticon.

Sub-Alleigance: MechaBeast.

Size: Basic.

Quote: GWAAARR!

MechaBeast Mode: Snarler is, like his partner-in-crime Carnivac, an updated version of his G1 MechaBeast mode. Also like his G1 self, he uses Carnivac's colours, but inverted. He is mostly a dark copper with gunmetal accents on his back, face and legs. The hooves are SLIGHTLY chromed, and the hind pair is quite large....his visor eye is red, and the drill on his front spins. Poseability is the same as Carnivac, save perhaps for the swivel hind ankles, and, like Armada Rhinox, he has Powerlink points on the tops of his legs...albeit his front pair of legs.

Transformation: Stand beast up on hind legs, swivel hooves around and flip feet out of lower legs. Swivel waist and open up boar's back to reveal and form arms. Move the now upside-down MechaBoar head to the chest, revealing the robot head, and maneuver the MechaBeast's front legs to the back, putting the Powerlink points in useful places while you're at it.

Robot mode:

Head: Like Carnivac, Snarler's head looks like his G1 head....which I can't explain, since I do not know what it looks like. Head is ball-jointed.

Arms: Snarler, like his buddy Carnivac, has mechanical arms that appear organic...in his case, his hands look as if they were once hooves. The familiar viewscreens return on the arm-panels. Poseability amounts to: ball-joint shoulders, ball-joint elbows, swivel wrists.

Upper body: MechaBeast Mode Head. Nothing more to say. Waist swivels, and the Powerlink points on his back are still useful,...at least, if you positioned his MechaBeast mode forelegs right.

Legs: MechaBeast mode's legs with flipped-out feet, the MechaBeast's hoof acting as a big heel. Pose-count: same as Beast Mode.

Hi! I havnt read any disclaimers so ill put my feet out:

"we need pics/sketches!"

Thanks.
